Wow, the bose zombies are out in force aren't they!?
Before buying bose (notice I don't capitalize their name because I have NO respect for their brand!) consider several different factors.
1) having sold bose for almost a decade, along with REAL speaker/electronics brands I know from direct experience that bose is one of the cheapest produced, and over priced products on the market.
2) have you ever seen ANY other speaker manufacturers advertise on TV? Do you know that the cost of advertising on TV has added at least 30% to the cost of each and every bose product on the market?
3) have you ever seen bose in comparisons with any other comparable product on the market? Ever opened a Stereophile or Home Theater and Electronics magazine and actually seen bose reviewed by any of the magazines reviewers, or compared to any other system?
4) did you know that you can buy replacement speakers (the paper cones themselves) for about $23 a piece, and yet they charge you THOUSANDS of dollars to buy the brand name! How does that work? Oh yeah, comes back to the marketing costs.
5) did you know that bose spends less on design, quality control and manufacture than any other brand sold in high end electronics retailers, yet they sell for significantly more than similarly equipped systems?
6) as a salesperson, if I had a customer that I couldn't stand, or was just DEAD SET on the bose name, I would sell it happily, because they have a higher mark-up than any other brand in the industry, which meant BIG PAY DAY for me! On the other hand, if I had a customer that I respected, or one that said they were interested in SOUND QUALITY, I NEVER sold them bose!
Sorry, I could go ON AND ON AND ON, but I won't, I just want you to make a wise decision, and bose is NOT it! They are boomy, tubby, flat, screechy and all around VERY poor performing products!
If you want the best sound, it depends on a huge variety of factors.
1) Are you looking to listen to music exclusively? Or are you looking to make a home theater system?
2) what size room and what furnishings are in it?
3) what is your price range?
4) what type of power (amplification) are you going to use?
5) are you going to set this system up yourself, or are you going to have the system professionally installed and calibrated by a qualified HAA (home audio alliance) calibrator?
There are several other questions but these will get you started.
If you have a high current amplifier like B&K, Krell, Denon, Adcom, Levinson, or others, my favorite speaker brand is Martin Logan.

they are American made electrostatic drivers with a sound so open and transparent that there mere presence in a room imparts a sense of majesty and power. The reason you need a good quality high current amplifier for them is that they are not very efficient and need enough current to let them truly extend their audio range to the fullest.
If you want something that is more elegant and significantly stunning, you might try Bowers and Wilkins (B&W)

Their Nautilus line is truly awe inspiring to look at as well as experience acoustically. These speakers are PRICEY but generally regarded as WELL worth the investment.
If you want to hear what most modern movies are mastered on, look no further than Miller and Kreisel (M&K)

These industrial looking speakers are the brand of speakers that Lucasfilms and THX use to master soundtracks for MAJOR movies such as the Star Wars series, Indiana Jones, etc... The S150 speakers are as utilitarian and well designed as any speaker on the market, and if your decor can support the look, they will ALWAYS perform beyond your expectation!
If you need other recommendations, don't hesitate to contact me, but whatever you do, DON'T buy bose!

Bang & Olufsen or Telefunkin.... Infinity for the mid-priced area. But really if you're looking to buy, you should listen to as many types/brands of speakers that you can, not everyone has the same hearing/taste & what some might consider the best, you might think sounds bad.

ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO TELL YOU ITS BOSE BOSE SUCKS they are just your average joe who doesent know what the talking about any audiophile will tell you how bad bose is.

there is no such as speaker manufacturer, however you could learn to speak in public and learn by yourself by buying a book in public speaking authored by Dale Carneige
