I am always uncertain about this, but once Christmas is over I want the mess out of the way. How long does everyone else leave them up?

well it varies, but mostly i rest on christmas day, and about 2 days after. then on abt dec. 28 i clean up. it's good to clean up as preparation for the new year

Until the day after New Years day. Some people stretch it out until 1/7 to include Orthodox Christmas.

I've heard some people leave them up until January 6th, the day of the visit of the magi.
But my family always took them down much sooner. Sometimes before the New Year's, but usually just after the New Year.

Be thanful you have Christmas decorations! My family will not even allow a tree into our house, therefore we do not have decorations to take down. Leave them up just a little while, but take them down just before New Years...

i dont have any decorations not even a tree, but than again, christmas is just another day to go to work, and i live alone.
The few times in my adult life that i have had christmas off are the only times i didnt have a job.
but growing up my family would keep the tree up until the pine needles began to fall off. and outside lights were taken down in january
i would like to see pagans and witches put their lights up all around the world to show how beautiful they can decorate their houses after the holidays.
would it work?

i usally take them down 2 days after christmas , manly because im tired , the rest of the block leaves them up untill a day before new years

It is ok to take them down the following day but many people take them down after New Year.
