"Elect" is just another word for saved. No, God has not chosen or elected only a few to go to Heaven. Jesus says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
Many people have a misconception about God and what is required for us to go to heaven. They think of God as if He held a balance or pair of scales in His hand, weighing our good deeds on one side of the scales and our bad deeds on the other. As long as our good deeds outweigh our bad deeds, we think God will surely reward us with eternal life.
But that is a serious misunderstanding and is wrong. Instead, God's standard is perfection, because He is a holy God who is without sin. That is why the Bible warns, "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it" (James 2:10). There is only one conclusion: "All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
How then can anyone be saved and have eternal life? Only by God's grace and forgiveness. And God has made this possible because Jesus Christ took our sins and our punishment upon Himself when He died on the cross. He is without sin, but God put all your sins on Him and He willingly died for you because He loves you.
Do not trust your own goodness; you can never be good enough to earn your way to heaven. Instead, turn to Christ for the forgiveness you need, and ask Him to be your Lord and Savior. Do not let your pride get in your way, but admit your need to God and trust Christ alone for your salvation. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The elect of God are those men and women who have demonstrated such great faithfulness to the teachings of Jesus Christ that they will be elevated to godhood in the afterlife. The elect are not predetermined or predestined to eternal life. They use their agency - the ability to independently choose between good and evil for themselves.

The elect are those who God chooses to grace in some way.
You know you're one of the elect, because (choose one or more):
1) you've been baptized.
2) you've made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ.
3) you've developed a mature, enduring faith.
4) the Holy Spirit gives you words to say and things to do.

They are the 144,000 referred to in Revelation 14:3 who were brought up from the earth to help Jesus in his Kingdom rule. They will rule over righteous people on earth.
The account in Matthew 20 where 2 disciples were arguing about who will sit in Jesus' right hand, Jesus asked: Can YOU drink the cup that I am about to drink?”
Those who literally drunk where the ones going to heaven....right now, about only 8000 does cause most have been up there in heaven already.

Some say that they are the Christian teachers, (or preachers), some say that they are the 144,000 jews remaining after the rapture takes place, and still others say that they are all Christians.

Elect are the chosen people of God written in the Lambs Book of Life that Jesus Christ Died for, before the world was ever formed. God did all of this and predestined them to be his own before the foundation of this world.Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
Romans8:14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 19For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
I think these verses above make it pretty clear who the elect are but here below are some other Bible verses that help you understand the elect.
Isaiah 42:1
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
Isaiah 45:4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.
Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Romans 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Romans 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
1 Timothy 5:21
I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
2 Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
These are references to God's elect in the Bible
you would know if your elect because Jesus Christ would speak to you as he did all of the others in the Bible
