I can't remember the date, but it was a meteor shower that happened I think in the 19th century.

Not sure of the date.

Also, there's a Jimmy Buffet song about it.

"stars fell on Alabama" was a song from the 30s or 40s.

Well there was a song by that name. I heard it in the 50's.

It may well have been older.

It may have been about meteor's falling to earth. They look like little stars as they fall
