There is.

Any firewall program installed on the PC can be configured to block the ports that P2P programs need to make their connection.

You will have to know the specific ports to block, which differ from one P2P program to another, but this is easily determined by searching Google/Yahoo for "xxxx firewall ports" (where xxx is the name of the P2P program installed). Most of the search results will tell you what ports need to be ENABLED for the program to work -- just reverse this and BLOCK (or disable) the ports mentioned.

Another alternative -- give your sister her own account on the PC and take away administrative rights. Then you can (as the system administrator) REMOVE the P2P software and she won't be able to reinstall it.

An excellent free firewall program is the Comodo Firewall.

I like the non-administrative account and p2p software removal option mentioned above. You also need to ontop of that protect your account with a password that she will not crack easily.

When she gets mad at you for barring her use of the p2p programs tell her you gave her a chance she blew it and now she is lucky you are allowing access to the computer let alone the internet. Then explain that any further bad behavior will cost her computer access until she buys her own and mean it.

A good program to lockdown your system settings is hijackthis.exe do search for it in any search engine be careful as misuse of this program can even mess with the motherbourd letalone what you cn do to the operating system.

Security software is practically required for your system to be safe online let alone using p2p programs.

Also use more than one security software i suggest

ad-aware,

spybot search and Destroy

Windows defender,

zonealarm firewall

WindowsLiveOneCare

Or for an all in one program try Norton.

I am sorry but for anti-trojan protection software your on your own because I don't know a good one.

If you can not block then at least you should have a protective software. Avast free antivirus has a P2P scanner built in. You can also plugin mcafee siteadvisor to warn you about potentially harmful sites before, or as you visit one. Of couse you need to have enabled your firewall, and have a few good free antispy programs AD Aware SE personal, spybot S&D, and either AVG Free antispy or windows defender

you pick 2 issues: a million. get the main concepts-blowing p2p courses getting used and locate the ports they should function. 2. get the consumer handbook of your router and shop on with the learning in the firewall area. on the different hand you ought to initially enable in basic terms port 80 for cyber web surfing and then upload greater allowed ports whilst they are asked and when you have checked the ports in simple terms isn't used for p2p.

If you have windows xp, you can go to Start>Control panel>Security center>Windows firewall >go under the EXCEPTIONS tab, and uncheck the name of the p2p program she uses (ie. limewire, bittorrent)

This blocks the applications access to the internet and vice versa, program wont work.

Hope this helps!
