1. wear comfortable shoes and clothes, your feet may swell from sitting so long. drink more water on the flight, maybe some fruit as well, to keep hunger away. do NOT drink a lot of booze, it gives you a sore head. bring a book or 2-3 magazines, some eyeshades, ear plugs, a travel toothbrush, extra shirt/blouse, socks, underwear, and a medium size inflatable pillow.
2. if your flight arrives at Perth in the daytime, try to sleep on the plane. If your flight arrives at night, stay awake on the plane If you can), sleep when you get there. try to adjust to the local Perth time before you leave, if you can.
Get up every 2 hours and walk around the cabin, stretch your legs, and do sit-down aerobics as much as possible.
3. fly first class if you have any frequent flyer points to use, upgrade your way up there. it's more comfortable, believe me.
bring your food, a headset with a small jack, to listen to the music or hear the movie audio. some airlines charge for food and headsets, ask the airline about this before you fly.

long haul flights are very long the best thing to do is break the trip up with a stop over which usually cost nothing to say stop over in malaysia or thailand and go to an island for a week then the memorys are not so bad flying from europe to perth is alot harder than flying from perth to europe ... for some reason flying against the time zone has a worse affect on you than with it .... the flight is alot better if you have your own personal screen with access to lots of movies if the plane is not big enough for this think twice before flying such a long trip the bigger the plane the better ... leg room is the worst thing so exercise your legs is vital
if you are from america then a stopover in the pacific islands is a good idea even a break in sydney or cairns before the next leg to perth would be better than heading straight over to perth which is about five hoursfrom sydney ....

I have done 14 hours before, but it was not too bad. If there are movies, watch them. If you have some crossword puzzle books, use them. Playing a game on a laptop computer is also a good way to pass the time. A good book will help pass the time too. All of these are great if you have trouble sleeping, such as meself. If you want to sleep, I would recommend taking some sleeping pills or ask for a really strong drink. Make sure to walk around as much as possible to stretch your legs and prevent DVT.

Urgh!!!
Once it took me 28 hours to go from Singapore to Buenos Aires.
Make sure you move around in the plane every so often to avoid DVT. Get off the plane and walk around the terminal at every transit stop if possible. (Some stops are short and transit passengers are not allowed off the plane). Try to get some shut-eye during the night segment of your journey.

23 hour flight non-stop= PURE TORTURE. ecspecially in economy! your best bet for suriving your flight would be to take some sleeping pills and sleep through the flight. bring a water bottle with you to avoid getting up on the flight to get water, and wear comfy clothes and shoes!

I fly regularly from USA to Bkk.. and w/lousy connections, a 30 hr trip... best advice is to relax and enjoy as much as possible.. most people bring something to do.. I find after a few hrs I can't concentrate too well and find it best to close my eyes and sleep as much as possible, 2 tylenol pm help me with that.. but it is a long trip - -
