Well,I show my mom all my talents,intelligence and some merits I have achieve,my independent attitude and I just ask some liitle money once this christmas only....but she screams and slaps me....But why is that it is ok for her If a boy commits mistakes, beg her some money and she always agree and treat those boys like her precious and backstabbs me a loser because I'm just a girl....Agggggrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhh.... i can't help it anymore!I'm turning 17 this yr....

The reason is because most mothers will show preference to their boys. It it genetic and shown across many cultures. Secondly, your mother was probably raised the way that she is raising you. Meaning that she probably was treated poorly by her mother and others around her, and the boys were treated better. Clearly these are issues related to gender and gender preferences and treatment by adults. As a 17 year old, the only thing that you can do, is stay out of trouble, meaning "go with the flow" and respect your parents as much as you can. I know that you have already done this. but you know what will agravate your mom, and try not to do that, even if you do not agree with it. Others may argue that you should stand up for yourself and tell your mother how you feel. This may work, if you catch her when she is in a good mood, however, from personal experience, parents will not change and will only take your comments as threats, so my recommendation is go with the flow, try to not take it too personally, and then when you are in the position to treat your daughter, remember your experience and honor your daughter equally as your son. the next generation will benefit from this generation. so stay strong, keep your head up, realize that you cannot please everyone, and rest assure that you ARE doing the best you can and are a great daughter. I'm sorry your mom treats you this way....keep up with your talents and good smarts it will lead you to a life you desire....your mom was raised in a culture where women are just mere ornaments and men hailed as warriors....when your alone with your mom and all is calm why don't you ask her, in a gentle way with interest, about chinese culture....good luck

Well u know back in the day, a loooonnng time ago, in China they would only keep their boys, the girls had to be killed or shipped away/ Girls were considered worthless..crazy but known fact.....which really is terrible if u ask me

well, let's face it this way... some paresnts, and not just chinese parents, wanted to have boys because they preserve the family name. but even if us girls are not boys, im sue our parents still love us.
