First of, you mom won't kick you out for challenging beliefs. I'm sure she is praying that God reveals Himself to you so that you can believe and it be an honest belief. One that you have learned yourself and not just accepting what others have told you. Take a good look at the world around you...the good and bad....question things, and see what answers you find. There is only one truth, and the road to that truth is discernment (questions for truth). Once you find truth, you have found freedom. Good luck to you and Godspeed.

As a Christian I don't believe as you do—but I agree that doesn't give me the right to be disrespectful or rude. In fact, the opposite should be true, for God wants me to love you just as much as He does (even if you don't believe in Him).

The Bible tells us to "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." It then adds, "But do this with gentleness and respect" (1 Peter 3:15). I have found over the years that very little is ever gained by antagonizing people—and usually much is lost. My wife is fond of saying that more bees are caught by honey than by vinegar! Perhaps your letter will encourage us to stop and be more thoughtful toward others.

At the same time, this doesn't mean I don't have the right to challenge your beliefs or urge you to reconsider why you reject God. Many who claim to be atheists reject God simply because they want to run their own lives. Could this be true of you?

Instead, I urge you to look at Jesus Christ. The Bible not only says God exists; it says He loves us, and He even became a man in the person of Jesus. Don't close your mind to Him, for He alone can change your heart and give you hope for the future.

its great your only 14 and exploring yourself like this,
I was a christian for a long time and through research ive discovered there is no God. The bible was made up by power hungry people along time ago. It was written, altered, and books in it were deleted and added over time and preachers usually pick and choose what to tell you in the bible to make God look good when in the old testament he was an evil entity and if had existed would have been responsible for vengeful murders of over 3 million people for the stupidist things.
Yet people who are Christian are stuck in there faith with a belief in it sooooo strong that they may fall apart without a heavenly father to tell them what to do. The churches make millions and millions by saying give us 10 percent of your income and I see pastors here who drive hummers and corvettes, would jesus drive a BMW? do a web search on Robert Ingersoll he was a non believer from over 100 years ago he has free stuff on the web to read as well as podcasts that are very educational on this topic, they will blow your mind. And keep on exploring yourself dont let anyone tell you they have all the facts, find them for your own self.

Yes, Twinkie, there is a God.

The question you seem to be asking is, in my humble opinion,
is why you should have faith crammed down your throat or the
free will to question and examine your own faith in an attempt
to have a personal relationship with a higher power-You know,
one greater than yourself.

Jesus hung out with thieves, prostitutes, lepers, drunks, et cetera; How intolerance crept in is a matter of human nature and will inevitably return to the same baseline: Do as I say, not as I do,and thou shalt be under my sway.

Jesus, in my humble opinion, would not pay $15.99 for a "WWJD" Ballcap, nor would he force someone to His ministry.

It's a big scary world, Twinkie. You just need to find your own
conception of a power greater than yourself. Everyone will try to
present their opinion as fact; The point is, love is behind the insistence that you go to church. Love is behind the opinions, in
the hope that you will not become one more lost soul in America.

Yes, Twinkie, There is a God. And your family loves you.
all they ask is that you love them back.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Is there a God? I believe so.... but not in the sense of the Christian one. I don't believe in a God that will send you to hell for not having seen the somewhat lacking physical evidence.

For your part, being 14, perhaps now might be a chance for a spiritual exercise. Maybe you could find a "spiritual adviser" of sorts... not to convince you that there is or isn't a God, but to help you decide what it is that you do believe, and to decide what would be sufficient evidence for YOU. Perhaps you could look for a book that gives an overview of religious and philosophical viewpoints... including atheism and agnosticism.

Come to a belief, but don't jump the gun. Evaluate, substantiate and believe. Just don't become the angry militant sort, with no way to defend your position.

honestly!!! It became some thing greater formal, yet I used to talk to Him regardless of the reason and because I saved forward to my own ambition and desires, whilst He gave me avertisements I saved none and did my way going into further and extra trubles! Into an end, interior of a deep depresion, He saved my existence (!!!) the very 2nd I left away of all my deep desires... There, empty coronary heart, i became packed with God's easy and Peace and Love - an entire New existence, a sparkling physique, a sparkling imaginitive and prescient over the final and the destiny :) :) :) definite, he's my Saviour!!!

When you go to bed tonight, ask God if He is really there, if He is real and see what happens. You might hear (if you remain quiet and listen while you're laying in bed) a small still voice answer you and tell you the answer to your question or maybe you'll fall asleep and dream something about your question. Or maybe in the coming days your answer will come in another way BUT sooner or later you will have your answer. I'm sure of it.

Don't let religious nuts fool you, stand for your beliefs and let your mother know that you do not believe. Read a little bit on what Christianity, Islam, Budhism, Judaism, Pastafariansm, and Atheism are all about. If you are undecided, just take a little time to research each one of these ways of thinking. I am convinced that if you are not already decided, and you use rational thought to make your decision on what to believe, you will pick atheism. I'm not going to tell you what to believe, I would just suggest that you educate yourself about what is out there and pick what seems right to you. Start with wikipedia and google, and if you want some resources feel free to email me at JB.25azn@gmail.com, i would be happy to help you. Whatever you decide to do, stand up to your mother, and don't let her indoctrinate you.

Your mother's been brainwashed by the fairy tales of religion since birth; she was never bright enough to see through them. You are; good for you. Sadly, since she really believes, she thinks she's doing what's best for you; she's not, of course.

Look at how horrible the bible is:

I'd tell you to IM or email me if you have questions, but your parents probably won't allow it so it's not a good idea. As much as I'd like to talk to you, I don't want you to get into the habit of chatting with potentially dangerous strangers online...

Don't be worried about getting kicked out - few parents are that cruel, especially at your tender age.

How did the bat get it's sonar? . You look at bats. They do not fly by sight. They can barely see in the day but they sleep in the day. They are nocturnal creatures. They do all their activities at night and at night they are blind. They fly by means of sonar. They send out sound waves through their nose as they are flying. If those sound waves bounce off something and come back at them, they pick them up and know that they are heading toward something and need to veer in a different direction. Somehow they know how fast they are flying and they know that sound travels at 723 MPH and as they fly they continue to send out sound waves so they continue to get updated information. Given enough info(and continued updated info) a mathematician could sit down with a pencil and paper and some calculus equations and figure out how far the bat was from the object and with the right info could even figure out if the object the bat is heading toward is stationary or moving toward the bat or away from it. But that would take time and if the bat took that much time he’d be flying into trees and telephone poles other things. We have developed computers that can do that in a second. That's what sonar is all about. The bat has a computer in his head that can figure that info out in a nanosecond. It knows what it is heading for without being able to physically see. It's flying by instruments(as pilots would say). Do you really think that the sonar equipment that is in the bats head just came about by random chance(read....luck) natural processes? You do if you're an atheist.
How did your brain become so complex? . In your brain there are 100 billion neurons. Each one of those neurons(remember, there's 100 billion of them) is connected to 1000 other neurons. That comes out to 100 trillion connections in your brain. These connections send electronic signals(and you can measure the electricity) from one place to another. If part of the brain is damaged and you lose some function that is controlled by that part of the brain, the brain can actually re-wire itself and let other neurons in the undamaged part of the brain take over so that you can get back that function. That's only the connections in the brain, not the rest of the body.
Our bodies also have tons of information in the DNA. You have enough information in your DNA to fill encyclopedia sized books stacked from here to the moon and back 500 times. Do you really think that came about by just random chance........kind of like a monkey typing out the works of Shakespear just by randomly plucking away at the keys?
I could give you a million other examples of design that is all around you. If there is no God then those things must have come about by just luck.Sonar in a bats head doesn't come about by just luck and neither does the super computer that is in your head that we call the brain which is a million times more advanced then the greatest super computers that we have today.
Thgose things are highly designed. Design demands a designer.
Make no mistake about it. There is a God. Now if you just don't want anything to do with Him then that's just your choice but don't try and say He doesn't exist.
