I received a dishonorable discharge and my name is plastered all over the armed forces courts website. How can I get my record sealed and put the past behind me? Or at least get my name off of that site!

Thanks for all of the great answers! Actually, the DD hasn't stopped me from getting any job I've wanted. No employer has asked for proof of military service and I even list the Military on my Resume. I've even worked for a Military Contractor since my discharge. Contrary to belief...an infraction to the UCMJ is not a felony in the rest of the world. It has never showed up on ANY records searches and I've gone through plenty with the jobs I've had. The Armed Forces Courts website is my only nagging memory of a time I've all but forgotten.

Stop me if I got this wrong -you did not go to jail-it does Not effect your current paycheck-your DD214 does NOT affect your sex life-few people know or even CARE about this armed forces courts website-and You understand the concept of LET SLEEPING DOGS LIE! if you stir up a stink and some politician says hey thats a vote getter lets really pump that discharge thing ,you will feel pretty stupid won't you ! FORGET IT ,THEY HAVE!

You will need to consult with an attorney that specialized in this matter because you can appeal, but your chances are negligible. In fact, every punitive discharge (including a dishonorable discharge) is automatically reviewed by the appropriate military appellate court.
Your dishonorable discharge is annotated on DD 214 Report of Separation which is a public document and stored permanently at the National Archives and Records Administration. A dishonorable discharge is given only by a general court-martial for serious offenses, so you have a federal criminal record also.

You can petition to get your record sealed or esponged. Also, you don't have to admit to any dishonorable discharge, most places can not check miltary records unless you are applying for a government job.

you can write the web site and ask that your name be removed, other then that a dishonorable discharge is public record, like any court. it would not matter, even if they could seal your record, which they won't do.

that's already sealed, no you could actually get admission to it , with out your permission. yet any civilian pastime that required a protection clearance, could mean they could have get admission to to it. you do no longer could comprise your militia adventure on your resume or pastime purposes. the biggest rationalization for alongside with it, is you have gotten to describe the 4 12 months employment hollow.

You can't. It is the government who does the sealing of records at their discretion, not a private individual.
