Leave it as is. Put a dishtowel or two around the cork and bottle, and slowly twist the cork out as normal. Then you can extract the cork from the corkscrew.

Then throw the cork at whomever thought putting a corkscrew in a bottle of champagne was a good idea. :)

Yes it is dangerous. The pressure inside a Champagne bottle is about the same a bus tire.

You do not need a corkscrew.

Remove the foil and loosen the wire cage from the cork, grip the cork firmly in one hand, hold the bottle at a tilt pointing it away from people with your other hand at the base of the bottle and gently twist the BOTTLE not the cork,

Chill the bottle and don't shake it before opening.

For greater safety, hold a cloth over the neck and grip the cork through the cloth.

When you push down the arms it will draw the cork out. No it's not dangerous--it will pull the cork out slowly so it won't shoot across the room, if that's what you're worried about.
