Cats were born to climb, so you have to fight instinct. You might try one of those sprays that smell bad to cats so that he avoids the whole area. You could try spraying him with a water gun every time he gets near.

Go buy a kind of spray which irritates the cats sense of smell and spray it at the area of your Christmas tree, it wont go near your Christmas tree anymore. The spray is sold at any pet shop. I forgot what is the name and the brand of the spray. Hope it will help.

Go to your local pet store and get a spray that you spray on your tree. I got some repellent. It's kind of expensive, but I have had one can for years. I am guessing that your cat is young or they could car less. My cats are older now so I don't have to use it and all they do is lay under the tree on the skirt. That spray was sooooo worth it!
Merry Xmas!

I even have quite a few shop offered pedestals, baskets with fleece padding, and beds upstairs, interior the laundry room, and an extremely thick, plush fleece pad on the window seat, which gets afternoon solar all iciness long. sure...it somewhat is sweet to be a cat in our domicile! once you're staring at paying for something, google it and purchase the biggest one you could accommodate, assuming it has good comments from different shoppers. you additionally can choose for to purchase greater desirable than one, so which you will placed them in distinctive areas of your place.

I just got an idea: cats hate the smell of oranges, why don't you decorate your tree with orange slices? They will look good actually, they will dry up and become nice ornaments. I don't know if it will work!

A great way to prevent this is to get Softpaws for your cat (they are available at Petsmart). It is caps to go over the nails on the front paws. (It'll also stop her from clawing your furniture!!) After a few unsuccessful attempts to make it up the tree and realize she cannot hold on without the nails from her front paws she will give up.

Is it a real tree? If so, try an artificial one. If that doesn't work, try spraying the cat with water; this normally teaches them that something is off limits.

Get a second tree just for him? And put some repellent on the first tree.
