Yes he can, but you'll have to purchase it. You may get reimbursed, but it isn't likely that insurance will pay. But there is a better possibility that you can take it off on your taxes if you are willing to itemize. Call a CPA and ask if there is a form you need to fill out. This also applies to other things, like air filters, such as HEPA filters, matress and pillow encasings, and other medical equipment. Just make sure you consult a true CPA, not someone who just completed a 2 week course to file short form taxes for people. Good luck, and Merry Christmas!

ask them but if it is proven to help alleviate allergic symptoms you may as well be able to have it taken off your taxes as a medical expense or your insurance may have to cover some if not all of the cost....ask your allergist and your insurance first

It is very doubtful that insurance will cover but you might be able to deduct on taxes as unreimbursed medical
