Be happy that somewhere, someone in the past did go overseas to fight so you can celebrate the holidays you wish to celebrate. And if we don't stop pussyfooting around with the ME, we may not have the choice to celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, Channukkah or Festivus.
There are bigger issues here than missing family on the holidays. Be happy they are alive, and brave enough to do their chosen profession. I am...happy and proud of them all.
And no, I don't think it is wrong to fight an enemy. And radical Islam is our enemy. It has many names and factions and is not easy to recognize but that does not mean we should ignore the threat. If you know that a family 5 blocks away is planning to harm you, you call for assistance immediately. You don't hide in your home and hope they won't notice you.

No, but I think we need to define our "enemies" better. My uncle died in the firefight on Iwo, my father was in D-Day. But those enemies, Japan and their ally (Germany) attacked us first. We got into WWI about three years after it started, WWII 2 1/2 years. Both after we were attacked by hostile militarist countries.
We used to be an ISOLATIONIST country. We always had enemies, but we didn't make war unless we had to (ok, the Spanish American War is an exception).
Isolationism is the real American tradition. Iraq never attacked us.

Did you think before you asked this stupid question? First of all, YES we should fight our enemies. Look up the definition of enemy. Secondly, I am truly sorry the loss of your family members. I commend them on their service and sacrifice, but it is obvious (without you saying it) that they will never be home for Christmas.

It is never wrong to defend yourself from your enemies unfortunately in Iraq's case their was no enemy who could hurt us. Now that we have knocked over Saddam We are now in his shoes and now his methods can be better understood as it takes such harsh methods to keep this country in line. You must choose your fights wisely while a people maybe your enemy as long as all they do is flap their yap they are harmless only until they try to hurt you do you attack this philosophy has served this nation extremely well over it's 230 years. However some like President Bush don't seem to read history books.

My condolences.
We all have enemies, people have enemies, and nations have enemies. But for the sake of peace within ourselves and the enemy, we all have to work together for the better of everything.
I doubt whether the current US leadership is capable of that.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

It's never wrong to defend ourselves from our enemies. But when our leaders just make up an enemy and send our soldiers out to kill and die, that's as wrong of them (the leaders) as could possibly be imagined.

No it is not wrong. Becasue you are entitled to defense yourself. Even the international law also entitle self-defense. America used the principle of self-defense to fight Afganistan and Iraq.
