For some odd reason, my SD (PNY) I GB memory card stopped working the other day on my Kodak v550. It said there was an error and I needed to reformat it in order to use it again..deleting ALL of My Pictures in the process. I decided not to for now...I'd like to see if it can be fixed or anything. Any suggestions?

The only thing I had done with it before was put it in a memory card slot on my printer/scanner to upload a video to my computer. Why would it not work after something like that?

great question and a tough one for me as it was my son-in-law and step-son who got the card unloaded and re-formated. (our olympus E-500) it worked one day and didn't the next and i don't know what i did...but the lads (both over thirty and professional computer-type wizards) got it fixed...so it can be done without losing anything...i just don't know how they did it...good luck.

You do seem to be between a rock and a hardplace with this one. Either you re-format and loose your pictures, or you don't and have a useless card. There are professional firms which can try to recover your data, but this can be expensive. There are also programmes which will try to recover data from corrupt cards - I have used PC Inspector smart recovery from www.convar.com, a free program, but I have to warn you it didn't recover everything.

One question - do you keep you pictures on your card? The way your question is phrased suggests that you might. If so, why? Download them to your computer and back them up to DVD, CD or a seperate hard drive.
