Particularily the troops that go to life-threating places like warzones. Why would they want to risk their lives in the first place?

Hi there, I joined the army reserves back in 2001. I joined because I wanted to be more confident and change as a person.
Also because they gave me $3000 bonus on sign-up and have education benefits like GI-Bill and Loan repayment program for school. I didn't join because I like to go to war or be in a dangerous zone like Iraq or any other warzone.

But, troops don't like going to dangerous zones like you've mentioned, in fact when they tried to deployed me to Kuwait I was sad with the news because deployments can last longer than 18 months.

Believe it or not, very very few teenagers or young adults join the army to go to war zone. They join primarily because they want to change as a person and cuz of the nice educational benefits and even cuz you can retire from the military in 20 years.

Well there would be a lot of reasons why. Some will join cause they feel it is their duty. Others will join, cause that is what they want to do in life, for rest of their live. Others, cause they are looking for glory. Some even join cause they can not find a good job. Others join, cause of the college benifeits afterwards, I could go on and on with this. The reason i would if i did would be cause i felt i really wanted to, and to help others, and keep our country and families safe. And to keep our soldiers safe too.

Merry
Christmas

Ask this in the military section..

Well many people or some people go in for service, they like serving their country and such..

Some go in for the benefits of the military such as housing, dental and medical and such... And even college money..

Some people love the training and the excitement, I would love sniper training and how to successfully enter a house and all..

Some people just need the money and the opportunity..

Others join for all the wrong reason or choose the military over other choices they have...

They want to serve their country, some go for the free education they get, some go to get away from family, some go and stay in for 20 years. It's really not any differant than any other career choice. yes, they may have a higher chance of death but they know this before enlisting.

people may go to the army because they really believe in our country, and are fighting for their morals. they may think their family is in danger if we do not fight these people. they may not have anything better to do, they may suck at school, and just want some respect from people. maybe they like the adrenaline rush, maybe a family member died in 9/11 or some other terrorist attack.. many people can have a million different motives, but its a good thing someone in this country is fighting for us.. or our country would be own the shitter by now. but fighting is stupid and i wish there was some other way to resolve things
