My grandaughter asked me this question on my 50th birthday, and I just told her dogs are like boys, they are just too happy & dumb.they don't have wonderful things to do like girls, polishing fingernails, changing our clothes, & grooming. Is this a good answer for a 6 year old girl?

Dogs eat people's underpants because they really want to help with laundry but haven't figure out how to use the washer yet. They see their alphas open the "mouth of another dog" (lid of the washer) and shove the garments in there...so they thought that's how laundry is done.
Dogs do imitate their alphas you know ;)

I think I would have put more emphasis on dog behaviour rather than boy behaviour (ie the need for toys, exercise, play, obedience training, human interaction, etc). With all due respect, the list you provided "...polishing fingernails, changing our clothes, & grooming..." makes girls/women sound superficial and self-obcessed. Each item concerns outward appearance and I would hope this child learns that genuine and lasting beauty comes from within. Merry Christmas to you both - and to the dog.

LoL. i love the way you answer to your granddaughter, is very funny and cute. Dogs, they love to play. As u kno they're man best friend and they r very much like them. So they love to bite and play. Thats why when u watch the TV show COPS. u c the dogs/ K-9 bite the person in the butt (cuz that the only thing that moving when pplz walk or run). Is just the dog natural thing.

No. You must not give sex-related stereotyped roles to your grand-daughter. And you must answer her truly whtever she asks, like dogs eat anything, not just underpants, but also shoes, slippers, milk bottles, etc: they think they are toys. This was simple enough for a 6 year old.
And your grand daughter will not be a feminist if you raise her like this, she will become a shallow girl polishing her finger nails.

OMG, this is so gross! I hate it. Also, my dog loves my dirty laundry and will sleep with her nose in stinky socks. ugh! Your answer was pretty good, but be prepared to answer more questions like that!

oh no because your telling her boys are dumb dont you think its wrong to tell her boys are dumb. dogs eat peoples underpants for the same reason they rub their faces in stinky stuff and on bugs. because they are dogs and like gross stuff. hey they eat poop who knows

nicely monkeys are much less trainable than canines, and squirrels are unlikely to be happy at abode. definitely that canines and cats (and horses and so forth) have an prolonged dating with human beings.
