You may have to buy a new PC. I have a Pentium III with Win98 and it will not run WinXP. Below is a link to a program which will examine your PC to see if it is capable:
If your current version of Windows is eligible for upgrade to Windows XP, you can use Upgrade Advisor to make sure your hardware and software are compatible with Windows XP.
Note You may use Upgrade Advisor to check for upgrade eligibility and compatibility information for Windows XP Home Edition with the following exception: It is not possible to upgrade from Windows NT® 4.0 or Windows 2000 Professional to Windows XP Home Edition
Go to this link.

You will have to buy the XP CD, remove 98 and then install it. The Home Edition of XP costs about 90-110$, the Media Center Edition costs about 130-160 $ and the Professional Edition costs about 180-220$.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
:)

Well, I have mine running dual boot win98 and winxp and no problem.
If you want to put win xp there, you should see if your computer has at least P4, 1.5 Ghz, 256 k Ram and at least 10 GB of hard disk. WinXP is too heavy for a 486 processor, and your computer may collapse in a sudden death.
Once you are sure that your computer can withstand WinXP, then backup all your data, pictures, music, everything. Then format your hard disk. Put your win xp disk in your computer and install it.
But, in your case maybe better to buy a new computer since you are having trouble with the video.
Hope this helps.

Windows XP is a LARGE program.
Make sure your computer can handle it before you install it. Keep in mind, you need to leave space on your computer to do other things (even surfing the web) aside from running this program (XP)
Xp will not make your computer run faster.

you have to buy a Windows XP to use it legally. If your computer is slow on Windows 98 it's going to be slower on Windows XP.
