How can someone tell if an African man just wants to marry an American woman for U.S. citizenship?

If an African man wanted to marry an American woman just for his American citizenship, how can she know before she marries the man?

The American woman usually finds out too late. His personality changes right after the marriage. Then the wife spends the next year writing letters to immigration asking to withdraw her petition for him. Then he gets some buddies to beat him up and he calls 911 from your house and says you beat him up and he wishes to press charges. Then he files a petition as a battered spouse.
There are some warning signs. Is he in a big hurry to get married? Watch how he reacts if you suggest giving things a little more time. Is there a big age difference? Does he want to know where you are at all times? Are his finances a secret from you?
Maybe he does really love you, but you'd better go into this with your eyes open - marriage fraud happens every day in this country, so watch out.

Well actually I think the vast majority of successful Black men still do opt for Black women it's just that we hear of the ones marrying White women more so it seems like a lot. But you are right, in that it does seem successful Black men on a higher than average pick non-Black women. And sometimes this is about having a status symbol. There are some idiots out there that thinking have a blonde on your arm means you have officially "arrived". These aren't the type of men you want to be with anyway, so I don't cry buckets. (See OJ and Kobe Bryant) And once they reach that status, there are plenty of gold digging White women happy to help them live out their fantasy of a White trophy wife or mistress. BUT sometimes it's simple logistics. When a man of any race reaches a certain status (millionaire status) where exactly do we think he is going to be living and hanging out? D'uh, the places filthy rich people hang out. They will be living in rich neighborhoods, going to rich bars, gyms, clubs, stores, churches yada yada yada. And the sad truth is, becuase of racism factors, American elite is pretty much occupied by a White majority. So unless these men had Black wives and girlfriends before they became successful they are going to be metting future wivey in their new high class neighborhoods. And chances are against her being anything but White. Sometimes they just fall in love with what's available. And if the only thing or the thing that is most available is White, he might overlook that.

Usually people spend some time getting to know each other before they get married. Thats always a good tactic.

You wouldn't be asking if you didn't have suspicions. There are plenty of foreigners who want to marry Americans for US citizenship or at least a green card. The poorer the country they are from, the more likely this is the case.

It's usually pretty obvious if he only wants you for a green card marriage! So if you even think that's all he wants from you, you should not marry him.
