A crack head

I imagine more than one type of person:
A drug addict
A better and cooler con artist
The devil
An up-and-coming criminal who barely dodged a bullet in the head while stealing from the con artist/card shark.

I agree with the rest of the answers given so far...a peer. I just wanted to point out a slight detail for your script however: Its "card sharp", not "card shark". Its a common mistake, but a mistake that might hurt your chances when presenting your script to producers.

Good luck:)

I agree with the others...but I would say a person who really, really has had enough of being cheated or abused by such a figure. A person who tries to live an honest to goodness lifestyle, who gets involved with a con-artist, and tries to bring out the good in them. And then, after time gets even...hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!! I did it, and he is in jail for 20 years!

Another con artist or card shark. Perhaps one that is very arrogant or the "best" at what he/she does. A "professional". If you're looking for something more low key perhaps a smart "average joe" someone you might not expect to be so cunning.

a king pen drug dealer. This person has what it takes to do just that. King pen maybe has been in a hardship childhood that made him want to have it all, and enough street smarts to simply talk there way into any situation from the block to the board room. Not tony montana type scarface but frank white type "king of ny. Chameleon type "blend" just an idea...good luck

A smart hustler who wouldnt rob a normal man but has no problem shaking down a con-artist
hes sort of a robinhood type, smart, and tough but not all street.
He could fit in with the "normal" crowd but he's got an edge.
Kinda like me, I wouldnt hurt a fly, but I did get in trouble for robbing drug dealers when I was younger...

Another con-artist or card shark. Make it a woman character also, that way she can manipulate her way in, heck sex sells these days.
