How can Christians actually be against homosexuality?

As the Bible says 'Love thy neighbor', so just because that person might have a different life style he/she is condemned to hell?

And it was even proven that you don't have a choice with your sexuality. Sure you can hide it, but you can't change it. You are born gay. There is a certain strand of DNA that says if you are homosexual or not.

This is just a simple question, and I want a serious response.

Well, I agree with you that christians who condemn homosexuals are hypocrites of the worst kind.

And while I agree that people are "born" gay or straight, I don't agree with you on the DNA strand idea -- no, there has NOT been any such DNA strand found yet. There have been some tantalizing suggestive early results, but nothing proven yet.

You'll hear a variety of arguments rationalizing their hatred from christians who are against homosexuality -- none of them are biblically sound. The bottom line: fear. They're afraid if they "tolerate" it, it will become tolerable...and then (god forbid!) somebody in their family might "turn" gay if it's tolerable! Oh, the shame!! :(

Fear. Plain and simple.
Look at the replies...
"they can't reproduce!" -- so what, there are millions heterosexual couples that never have children -- do you condemn them? No? Nice try.

"It's the sin, not the sinner!" -- then why don't I see christians out protesting against lying, adultery, fornication, coveting your neighbor's a$s, etc.? These much more common sins aren't worthy of your public condemnation, but homosexuality (much LESS common) is? Nice try, wrong again.

FEAR. And bigotry.

I totally support your question, your point of view and your purpose.

I agree with most of the rules that are set by religion, but the part about homosexuality was something I never understood.

However there's a flaw in your theory. You said sexuality can't be changed and that you are born with it. That's not true. I'm bisexual and I can change my preferences according to what I concentrate on. Okay, I may be a rare case, but believe, I know a lot of people that have changed from straight to gay and vice versa. In some cases, it IS possible. You aren't always born with it. Sometimes you develop your sexuality as you change the stages of your life. It just depends on the case. This is a subject that can't be generalized.

By the way, wherever I open this subject, people keep telling me that sexuality is either something you are born with and something you can't change, or vice versa. And the irony of it is that they all have scientific proof for their statements.

Anyway, I do agree with you. I don't think homosexuality is a sin. But maybe we see things from the perspective of mere humans. We're mere players in this game. I mean the world is like a chess board, we're the pieces and God and Satan are the players. We are directly implied in this game, and we only see what is ON the board, while God, being above us and in control of everything, can see the big picture.

Yes we should love thy neighbor. However, homosexuality is a sin. Please read 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Romans 1:26-31, Leviticus 18:22, 1 Timothy 1:8-11, and Jude 7.

They say that other things are inherited through our DNA, as well. Most of such things are not good things. We go to all lengths to be freed of, cured of, or treated for these things.

Same should be said for all things detestable to God.

This is a very good question to ask! I know for a fact that homosexuals are born homo because my older brother didn't just decide one day to be gay...he is and has always been homosexual from the start......I hope you get some good responses, but prepare for negative ones too!!The "love thy neighbor" is ignored by many people today.

i disagree with being born homosexual events in ones life can mold your sexual preferences.i dont see any good reason to be against homosexaulity if one loves another that should be enough the gender should not matter lisa loves jen billy loves bobby but they cant be together because the bible says its a sin they cant indulge in one anothers love or they will be condemned to hell so says the bible guess its just tough luck when you love the wrong person ooo ooooo what if lisa gets a sex change and becomes a guy will it still be considered a sin i mean she would be a guy then XD

I believe homosexuality is a generational curse, it can be broken. First of all, we don't even love God, because if we did we would be totally committed to serving him and obeying him. In the bible, it says we are liars if we say we love the father but yet don't obey. How can I love a homosexual or even a straight person for that matter if I don't even know what love is to begin with. God is love. Our hearts are evil and decieving without the Holy Spirit living in and guiding our lives. I say "we" not meaning christians only but humans overall.

False, most people are not born gay. Every single gay person that I've talked to about it (some close friends included) have had some measure of abuse in their formative years that molded them to who they are now. But that still doesn't mean they chose to be gay.

Christians can be against the homosexual act if they want to. Just like they can be against any other type of behavior. I don't think the educated among them think a homo is damned... if they do they aren't thinking clearly.

because people are scared of new things.

lets face it... in history people might have been homosexual, but no one really came out. when they did, people didnt know what to do. and as many closed minded people figured, they just didnt like something that wasn't "popular"

they were afraid of the unkown. they were afraid of what was diffrent.

its always been this way. men all around have been afraid of things they did not know much of.

and once a lot of people said it was worng... that was it. that was all it took. so now people are closed minded and don't want to change what they've belived in for so long.
kind of like how children are usually the same religion as their parents.... their parents were christian, jews, muslim or whatever religion it was, so they should too.

its all a mental thing. its all psychological.

sorry to say but it will be a long time until this topic is put to rest =[
