Yes. It is quite simple, since ten tribes were lost. If you are Jewish, you are a member of the two remaining tribes, Judah and Levi. Most people know to which they belong.

Interesting Question. DNA testing does show a strong family connection in families with the names of Cohn regardless of where they live in the world. However, if you are thinking actual names as in a geneology chart, probably not more than 700 years. Traditionally, Jews with the name of Cohn and similiar variations are given the first blessing during the Torah service as it is assumed they are descendants of the original priests.

Some can.
I there are People who can trace themselves back to Levi and Aaron. Some even directly to King David. I also once knew a guy that had a family tradition that he was from Ephraim.

Yes they can trace back to which tribe of Israelites they came from. But that leads back to which son of Abraham they descended from. and then back to ADAM and EVE the first of the race called Israelites.

Not really. First of all, there's the Ten Lost Tribes, which were dispersed by the Assyrian destruction of Israel in 772 BCE. They were absorbed by neighboring countries and irrevocably lost their identity. What was left was Judah, and the small tribe of Benjamin, which was absorbed into Judah by the Babylonian Exile (586 BCE). All Judahites became known as Jews.
