okay well this is kinda a long story but, in august i was diagnosed with excercised induced asthma by my family doctor, i was having a really hard time breathing while running and almost passed out. I was given an inhaler and that didnt help. I went to a pulmonary doctor and he said that my asthma is really bad so he gave me 2 inhalers + singular. I went to the ENT to check out my nose because i had a runny nose all the time while excercising, he gave me a nasal spray and said i have a slight Rhinitis. anyways now onto my question. this past month, its been really hard for me to breathe and just do everyday things because i have SO much mucus in my throat, my nose is always clogged and i cant breathe out of it. my ears feel like they pop when i try to blow it. I dont know whats wrong? i just feel like somethings wrong with my nose or throat because im constantly spitting out mucus and its making me not be able to breathe plus its annoying, anyone know the problem?

I also have asthma and severe allergies (including rhinitis). I think what you are referring to is "post nasal drip". It can be caused by a sinus infection and/or allergies. It's where all the mucus runs down the back of your throat and makes you feel like you are drowning.

Some of the nasal sprays list "sinus infection" as a possible side effect. Perhaps you have an infection, or maybe you should try to switch nasal sprays. Astelin works fantastic for me, but it also makes me very tired. None of the steroid type sprays was effective.

Bottom line, I think post nasal drip is your current problem, caused by some type of sinus issue or nasal passage problem.

It sound to me like you have a bad case of food allergies. I lived with heavy "cold like" symptoms runny nose and a bit of Asthma for almost 20 years. What I ended up doing was changing my diet. I would recommend that you stay away at least for a an entire month from milk and milk by products like cheese, cream, ice cream, yogurt. I know it sounds harsh, especially if you are used to eating pizza, milk, and, ham and cheese sandwiches like I did.
I'm pretty sure that if you do this your problem will get better. There are several books that talk about why we shouldn't drink milk and milk by products for example "Enter The Zone". And I've seen many friends improve their flu, Asthma and skin rash problems by removing milk from their diets. Unfortunately in my personal experience you need at least a month for it to work. If you'd like to know more about the effects of milk on some people e-mail me or send me an instant message.
