After dating girls of several beliefs, I have come to the conclusion that above anything else, dating people with the same religious beliefs as yourself is very important. They just differ too radically from each other, and there are so many religions out there it is astounding. It is very sad that we are divided in so many ways, but I can't do anything to change that.

I myself, am an Agnostic. I do not believe it is right to force your own beliefs on your children, and I am adamantly against performing religious rituals on children. It seems that most people that follow a religion believe it there place to make sure their child has the same religious beliefs as them.

While I definitely do think that there is something to the saying opposites attract, as this is true in many areas, but I for one think this is something that is very important as it is not something many people are willing to compromise on.

I'm engaged Steward :O And obviously you didn't read my post. Most religious people will not compromise.

You sound more Agnostic than Atheists, who believe science has disproved the possibility of a God.

I'm all for the teaching your children about religion, I think that is the healthiest approach for the child, but most religious people do not share those views.

Any relationship is about compromise. If you are convinced that your views, about anything, are right and others are wrong and you will not compromise, you are going to have a very sad and lonely life.

I do not believe in God but then I know that I cannot prove that one or more Gods do not exist. My wife is a Christian who doesn't like organized religion. Whist she believes in God, she doesn't think it possible to prove His existence. We are teaching our daughter about all religious beliefs and she will make up her own mind as and when she wants to. We both believe in tolerance and understanding of others and encourage this in our daughter.

It really doesn't matter who or what a person prays to but, it does matter that they may be sick or hungry, and it does matter if you are prepared to offer friendship or not.

Well I agree with you. It much better to be with someone with the same religious belief as u are...
It is very very important, because if u are with someone who doesn't get what you do and what you belief in, there is not going to be an understanding relationship. I am evangelicalI'm 17 years old, and I want to save myself for marriage, but a lot of people don't get that. and the same thing happens in a relationship.

I think cross-cultural marriage is putting an unnecessary hardship on a relationship that has almost everything going against it from the start.

I'm teaching my interfaith children to marry white and Christian or Jewish and to adopt their spouses religion or vice versa. In my experience, cross-cultural friendships are fantastic, but cross-cultural marriages are destined for destruction and meaningless hardship.

I completely agree with you, as to the religious issue. I am Jewish, and feel it's much easier dating Jewish guys. It's hard enough dealing with someone on a romantic level, so might as well makethings as easy as possible.
