I cant say any more than the other answers, except that you can get some very good deals if you are prepared to pay up front at the time of booking. However, if you do have to cancel at the last minute, you forfeit the whole amount.
Have fun and enjoy

If you are booking online you will have to give them a credit card number then and if you don't show you will be charged for the room anyway. You will actually pay for the room when you checkout.

Check the booking conditions carefully. Payment procedures vary.
Some websites offer low prices, but charge your card at time of booking. Others only use the card number to identify you, then they charge as you check out.

You usually give a credit card over the phone and they charge you for one night if you don't cancel and don't show up by an agreed time.

Otherwise, you give them your card when you get there, they put a hold on the amount they think you will spend, then when you check out, they adjust it and only charge you the actual cost.

Hope that helps.
