When you think about it, it's really all the same. I suggest you take a look at Joseph Campbell's book, A hero with ten thousand faces. This book was the premise for star wars and many other amazing stories/movies. The idea is that every big world religion has the exact same symbolic routine. Every world religion has the world wide flood, the birth of a savior from a virgin, etc. The idea of a god on mount Olympus is the exact same as a god in heaven since Olympus was the heavens for ancients. I wouldn't judge either one, but let the symbol affect your life. Trust me, read that book, it changed my life and helps to understand why certain people behave the way they do.

No, because you can prove Zeus doesn't sit on top of Mount Olympus by going up there. At least with God in Heaven you can dance around that idea by saying we don't know where Heaven is...

Not to mention the story of Prometheus, son of the sky god (Zeus), comes down to earth to give mankind a gift, but is punished by being nailed against a wall until he's later resurrected. Sounds similar to a later story about a Nazarene...

Certainly it is more belivable. Zues and the boys could have been many things that would have seemed god like to simple ancient people, Aliens, time travellers, the remnants of a now lost advanced civilization, etc. Improbable? Sure, but at least concivably possible.

Unfortunately, to most it does, because the true Creator is the most misunderstood, and often deliberately, of all we can think of.
A creator in Heaven that the Bible tells us about contains many elements outside human experience that must simply be trusted and believed. No other 'higher entity' that does not borrow from the Bible entity is outside the realm of human experience in any physical, emotional or psychological way.

Zeus committed incest by marrying his own sister. What kind of God is that? The Hebrew and Christian God is a loving God.

To believe in Jesus Christ is easier.....than believing the following:
He had a headache and Athena popped out.
He uses lightning bolts to strive evil people but seems to miss other like the leader in Iraq and Hussein
He all of sudden stop having sex with human women and they are no more half gods walking around.
Shall I go on???

Not necessarily.... although Zeus is much more interesting and much more like humans. I'm sure it was just as believable to the believers then as it was to believers of God now.
