My boyfriend, his parents, and me were driving back from a nice x-mas eve dinner just talking about random stuff and enjoying some laughs when my boyfriend was like "ugh! you guys always interrupt me!". No one knew he was saying anything and of course his parents and myself did not intentionally mean to cut him off in mid sentence. He basically threw a fit and did not continue saying what he was supposedly talking about. The car became really awkward and silence and I just felt like crap after that, and I'm sure his parents felt kind of awkward too. I just wanna know why he would flip out over something so pointless?

It sounds like it was something built up over time and with the stress of the holidays and it happening again he just flipped. He probably actually didnt mean to get so upset it just happened.
Wait a day or two and talk to him about the way he was feeling. Both of you might benefit from it

It could be something that his parents do to him a lot.... and are not aware of it. You are his girlfriend.... and if he felt that you were now doing that with his parents.... well.... I would have felt that the girl who normally listened to me was now doing the same thing that drives me nuts from my parents!

It may seem pointless to you.... but maybe you are a person who has never had a problem being heard. I'm one of those who has that problem in my family and with others.... and I know how small and unwanted it makes a person feel.

Apologize to him, and pay attention when you are conversing so he is heard along with everyone else.

Some families are notorious for interrupting each other. They may not even know it's habitual. Sounds like your boyfriend might come from a background like this. Perhaps he's fed up w/it. He could have had this resentment building up for awhile and just let it out. Be patient with him and when you find the right moment, maybe sit down and ask him about it.

It most likely something that his parents do to him that drives him nuts. The fact that you and his parents did not even notice he was saying something might give you a clue as to why he was upset.
You probably did not even notice but I bet his parents and maybe even you cut him off a few times throughout the night when he was speaking, and he finally blew his lid.

I just posted something like that, but more serious. Men flip out more because they are stressed out a lot, especially during the holidays, and anything will set it off. Your boyfriend needs to talk to someone and it's you, talk to him before he goes off on the deep end

You didn't say how old he was but it sounds ike he's a little tempermental and immature. Nobody likes to be interupted but creating a scene in front of your girlfriend and parents on Christmas sucks ***. I think he owes you all an apology.

He either has anger issues or from a psychological point of view...he could have been building up anger over time and then "went off" on something so trivial. Does he express his anger about something or just keep it inside?

Extreme immaturity!! his parents haven't paid enough attention to him and YOU are being seen as competition. Twisted but that's what immaturity is. Tell him to grow up and stop being a little boy because he wants mommy and daddy's attention!

Maybe it's his pet peeve. Some people have pet peeves and when those buttons get pushed too much they explode and mass murder everyone.
