They share 96-99% of our DNA, have similar behavioral patterns, and are just eerily humanistic. Why would God make a creature so similar to us? The scales seem to tip in favor of evolution. Your thoughts?

I'm not saying we came from chimps--that ludicrous! I want to know how one can explain why they are so similar if they didn't have a common ancestor?

You'll end up giving best answer to someone who shares your views, but I'll waste my time answering you anyway:
Just because they're similar doesn't mean that we're the same.
Can we procreate with a chimp? No. God may have used a similar blue-print, but that doesn't make us related.
God created special barriers in order to prevent intermingling. If the chimps didn't exist, what would you say was origin of humanity then?

Creationisim is a lie and this is why .
I am agnostic liberal and a democrat living in colorado springs and they say they are the ones on the attack pleeease the reason i read the bible is to create a conclusion after i analyze the script so i know why most the evangilicals where i live are so not all of them but blind and narrow minded THATS why i dont put people down but where i live this is my opnion not trying to be offensive but nothing makes since all the stuff in there is so ill logical and not making since the book makes the whole god theory irrelavent not to mention there is no hard evidence.. like when birds came before humans but if there where no humans to name the birds then how does that work thats illogical right there.and when they say alot of people lived for many centurys does it meen on our calander they lived for 900 typical western cycles or a primitve yearly schedule wich moved much faster i would think as medacine got better wich they didnt have modern medicine you would live longer but in egypt 5000 years ago maximum age lived to was 48
so how is it possible they lived for 900 years in some cases and 1024 in others ? it is illogical and pushing human biological cababilitys it said also water covered the whole planet! then if thats true it would of gone above everest and thats almost 30000 feet and you need a oxyegen tank around 18-20 k feet so they all would of blacked out and sufficated...there are many things in biblical propheices that do not make since rendering the story illprobable and illogical unless for the last two the biological structure of humans where much different and humans where to say super human and could with stand such things and i think it is obserde that we know with hard facts that there are a un calculable ammount of planets in the universe and it says god created our solar systems planets and life and the whole universe in 7 days but what about the other planets! another thing making it illogical it could not loggically and is not a probable story...just isnt..

I'm not a christian or creationist, (pro evolution here). But this is how I answered the question for a christian

When I was doing a primate internship at an area zoo I had an encounter with one of the zoo visitors. She said that the gorilla's faces disgusted her because they looked so human and she did not know why god would create an animal like that. I replied that perhaps god wanted us to see our reflection in these animals so we would have compassion and understanding for them.

I'm not a creationist but chimps share 68% of similar DNA and they are of common ancestry . And I hope we eventually evolve beyond the same or similar behavior and stastus values of are primate relatives . The 98% is between the races of humans like white and black .forget about god he's a fable of spiritual remorse.Faith in people moves mountains not sunday ritual.
Peace out

Religious people in general, creationists in particular, have the habit of discrediting the achievements of reason. They have been convinced, since childhood, that there is another kind of knowledge, much more perfect, much more reassuring: the kind that comes from mysticism - I know because I FEEL, not because I think. That kind of knowledge is also called FAITH.

Since when one can know anything based on faith? Did humans learn to come out of cave dwelling because of faith? If reason is permitted anywhere, religious people have compartmentalized one area of knowledge where reason is not admitted: that is what religion is all about.

Finally, when a discovery of the truth is replaced with another more precise or more complete, religious people fall into the logical fallacy of believing that the truth, therefore, is unknowable. This is a good argument for disregarding scientific pursuits, because in science one understands that there is far more to know about reality than we have already discovered. The important fact to keep in mind, however, is that each successive discovery that corrects an inadequate or erroneous previous one will inevitably support the usefulness of reason and the utter uselessness of faith.

I am convinced that it will be science that will take us to settle once and for all whether God exists or not. Religion can only sing praises about a God that is nowhere in sight and operates in mysterious ways, accepting all contradictions that our logical minds reject. For example, why give humans a logical mind which so purposefully serves them in their survival and yet tell them it's a useless tool to get to know him? I am also convinced that one day scientists will unravel the mystery of God and if he exists, he will be a God of science and he will only talk to the men of reason, leaving the men of faith aside, unable to recognize him anyway, since they will continue to stubbornly be incapable of distinguishing Reality from Fantasy.

Answer: Hmm. I consider myself to be a "militant moderate" when it comes to the "Creation vs. Evolution" battle. There's SO much in each camp that deserves attention and debate. But, (the problem) is that there are TOO many extremists in each camp!

My thoughts? I wonder when the pendulum will come to rest. I certainly don't believe that it'll be at the end point (either way).

Good question, tho. God bless you. Have a safe and happy Christmas. (yes, I'm Christian and a scientist...NOT a "Christian Science"ist).

Well, He needed to practice...
Just kidding. I believe in God and in evolution. Our world is a combination of pure energy (called God) and the evolution of the matter. I don't take the stories in the Bible as 100% true, but I am aware of the fact that they describe a truth. I am always trying to read between the lines.

DNA Double Helix: Its Existence Alone Defeats any Theory of Evolution

The scientific reality of the DNA double helix can single-handedly defeat any theory that assumes life arose from non-life through materialistic forces. Evolution theory has convinced many people that the design in our world is merely "apparent" -- just the result of random, natural processes. However, with the discovery, mapping and sequencing of the DNA molecule, we now understand that organic life is based on vastly complex information code, and such information cannot be created or interpreted without a Master Designer at the cosmic keyboard.

God made all kinds of animals why couldn't me make one like a chimp? We also have a lot of DNA in common with dolphin. I don't see why that is so important. As a Christian I will tell you that neither of these animals were created in God's image, No not a physical image. God is not a physical being. Mankind are spiritual beings and so are made in His image.... Jim

Just bc two DNAs are similar, doesn't mean they're related. We do have a common designer. In addition, what those percentages don't reveal is that there are 150 million base pairs in our DNA that are different, so mutations would have to cause 150 million positive differences, and not negative ones like they usually do.
