why do the majority of my christian co-workers and bosses conspire gossip, backbite, and give people a hard time at my job while discussing a wonderful day at church on Sunday, the lord's blessings, and the pastor's good word?

There are lots of "Sunday" Christians. Also, there are lots of immature Christians. Then again, there are lots of people from many spiritual paths who don't "walk the walk".

Don't judge all Christians by the actions of the few.... or even many. I think that true spiritual maturity is a rare gift, and that most who claim it haven't achieved it.

I'm not a Christian; I'm on a quite different spiritual path. Still, I find myself saying and doing things that I regret. I know that at times, I behave in ways that I find contrary to what I expect in others. Often, it's a result of letting my desire for acceptance override my spiritual guidelines. I just want to "fit in", so I do things that seem more apropriate to the situation rather than what I want out of life. I guess that in that sense, I'm simply not as mature as I would like.

Anyway, I guess that I realize that while people often seem hypocritical, recognizing that acting contrary to one's beliefs in order to get along is simply part of some people's lives. The goal is to reduce that as much as you can, and to be a truly integrated person. I hope that I can get there sooner rather than later.

Edit:

To the ones who say that those who do so aren't really "saved", while I don't believe in the concept of "salvation", according to the Bible, there aren't any perfect Christians. What about the person who just said that "salvation prayer".... are they expected to be perfectly moral and 100% free from sin? Is there some magical thing that takes place where Jesus completely removes every urge to sin... or even gives one a built-in dictionary of each individual pecadillo?

Whatever... people are people, and judging them by individual actions is wrong even by Biblical standards.

I am sorry that you experienced such a mixed message from your Christian co-workers!
Christians should be a light to any job. They should be showing you the love and compassion of Christ and not backbiting and gossiping! They also should be the hardest workers!

Because they're not Christians, they Church Goers

Christians work 10 times harder than non-christians. It's a competition thing. It's a requirement of Jesus.

Some are just human. Some are only Sunday Christians.

I have never had that experiance so I can't answer your fantasy question but I understand the bitterness of some other faiths that are jealous of Christians and the freedoms that this wonderful religion allows.

Merry Christmas

add on:
And maybe if you were busy working instead of slacking you wouldn't have time to worry about what your coworkers are doing.

Why do you have a Mark Foley who says he was concerned about children but was a child predator? He even fooled Polly Klaas's father I believe....

Sincerely, we are not perfect. It does not excuse their behavior. It shows a lack of maturity in their Christian faith, not perfect and/or maybe not saved.

the ones who do that are not really saved

the best way for me to answer that is with scripture

Matthew 15:7 [Ye] hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with [their] lips; but their heart is far from me.

Because they have lukewarm hearts and are not practicing what they preach. It's a sad excuse for a Christian.. though I know there are devote Christians out there who are humble and meek..

Obviously they're only showing how holier-than-thou they are at church, then come back into the darkness and go back to their old ways!

Answer: Curious as to how you managed to collect your, uh, "statistics". And, what was your control group? Or, are you just posting noise?
