I don't think it's outrageous, but those who try to raise Jesus to a level beyond anything they define as "sin" which would mean having sex (which they think is inherently sinful), blows their minds.

One question, if Jesus was not supposed to have a family why those who follows him have family? Well, maybe one more, what is so wrong or sinful about having family that Jesus was not supposed to have one? I don't think is OK for Christians to pick and choose which part of the story they're going to follow, to do this is a big hyposcricy or pure ignorance of of his life and teachings. I know they've come out with some type of gibberish to get out this one before, but they've only show they ignorance. If Christians really want to convince others about the trues an values of theirs believes, they better start making better argument and stop been such a big bumper stickers philosophers. To follow Jesus, Jesus loves you, to be saved by Jesus, or that Jesus died for your sins deserves a far more illuminated explanation than the one been offered so far. The way they've been promulgating Jesus teachings is really a big insult to that lofty Master.

It's not outrageous. 18years of his life are missing out of the bible. Until he was 30 he led a normal human life. As a baby he pooped himself. When he was learning to walk he fell down. He learned his human father's trade and probably banged his thumb w/ a hammer. The reason it was omitted, probably, from the bible is because it wouldn't make him look very good. Imagine, deserting his wife and kids to hang out w/ a bunch of guys that wander around the country w/ no means of supporting themselves or the wives and kids they all left behind.

The idea is not outrageous, at all.
It's just that it's not true.
Do you really think that all those people who wrote so many "Testaments" about Him would leave out this detail?
Merry Christmas !!!!!
And a Happy New Year !!!!

If Jesus had a wife and kids, don't you think that would be worth writing down, in say...the Bible! That's pretty significant. Crazy how it's not there though. Unless of course it never happened.

It's not. It's just not discussed in the Bible, even in the missing books. Even in the Gospel of Mary Magdeline.

HIS purpose of coming here was to seek and to save that which is lost.. He came to be the sacrafice on the cross.. HE had temptations but HE was without sin..
HIS only purpose to come here is because HE loves us, even though some reject HIM..

actually, it should be the idea that he was the son of god that's outrageous.
and even worse is the idea that he's sitting around heaven listening to our petty little problems and troubles.
but to answer your question, people don't like the idea that they need to change something they have believed in for years
