My dog was constipated and I called the vet. He told me to buy a Fleet enema and give it to the dog. Luckily before I returned from the drug store she had gone on her own. I don't know about a soap enema, but I can tell you a Fleet one is pretty cheap.

Never! if it is constipated and you can't get it to the emergency vet, then give it a touch of vegetable oil. If it has been constipated more than a day this could be deadly if it is a large breed. I lost my Weimariner to constipation on the day she was constipated, she kept swollowing air to pass one way or another and she was totally blocked and her stomnach did a 190 degree turn and she dropped, it is called gastric Tortion, or commonly known as bloat.Never take constipation lightly, should call the vets immediately if your dog is constipated. And rush it in to the vets. Never give your dog an enema, you don't know what you are doing and you could killl this dog by doing so.

actually you can, but don't use soap or anything harsh, just plain warm water, and it will work just fine.
if the constiation is recurring after that, then you need to seek medical help as a colonoscopy is needed to find the cause.

Give him PUMPKIN PUREE (not pumpkin pie filling...pure 100% canned pumpkin puree found in the baking aisle).
Pumpkin puree is excellent at regulating bowel movement, which means it's good to give for diarrhea AND constipation. Start with just half a tablespoon mixed with his food.

If you have to ask this here, then it falls under the category of "Don't try this at home."
Consult your vet for information and instructions. You can seriously injure your dog if you don't know what you're doing.

A teaspoon of olive oil or any vegetable oil could help flow issues. a sturdy long walk could be my first path of action, nonetheless. often, a sturdy walk gets issues going for a dogs.

That would be considered animal cruelty. Try giving him some milk.
