It's viewed as such by most in our culture as sick but in other cultures such as the Incas in Peru, marriage between siblings as their rulers was not unusual. It depends on your perspective and your religious beliefs, as are many things in our lives.

Yes i would say that it is a mental disorder. And it also causes mental disorder in the child, children that the adult, or who ever is having incest with. Cause the person that is doing the incest usually is the one that is making the child or the other person, think that it is ok, and normal, and later that person when they find it is not normal. Well they end up blameing themselfs. Which is a sad thing. Cause the person who did the incest to the other person was the one in the wrong. The child did not know better, and later takes the blame, and has thier own problems............I hope that has answered your question.

Merry Christmas

Not a mental disorder, but a mental and sexual abuse;see the definition of incest;as the imposition of sexually inappropriate acts, or acts with sexual overtones, by - or any use of a minor child to meet the sexual or sexual/emotional needs of -- one or more persons who derive authority through ongoing emotional bonding to that child." Although incest is primarily the abuse of power and authority , the sexual element of the abuse results in a variety of sexual problems in the adult-survivor
That incest has a negative impact on the later sexual functioning of survivors, some examples are;negative self image, promiscuity, sexual phobias/aversion,flashbacks to mention a few, thus that's the reason why its related to psychology
because of the therapy or counseling needed as a treatment
for the victims

Incest: Sexual contact between persons who are so closely related that their marriage is illegal (e.g., parents and children, uncles/aunts and nieces/nephews, etc.). This usually takes the form of an older family member sexually abusing a child or adolescent.

Incest is considered by many experts to be a particularly damaging form of sexual abuse because it is perpetrated by individuals whom the victim trusts and depends upon. In addition, support can also be lacking and pressure to keep silent powerful as fear of the family breaking up can be overwhelming to other family members.

Typical American sexual abuser:
*97% are male who are on the average 10 years older than their victims.
*sexual abuse by stepfathers is 5 times higher than among natural fathers, the most common age for onset of abuse is age 10
*abuse of daughters by fathers and stepfathers is the most common form of reported incest.
*brother-sister incest is the most common form of incest (but not the most commonly reported).

Incestuous fathers, a profile:
1. Rigid
2. patriarchal
3. emotionally immature
4. alcoholic or drug abuse common
5. usually do not engage in extramarital affairs

There isn't a clear reason why pedophiles rape children, other than the fact that they are sexually attracted to children.

Incestuous behavior is more likely to occur in families that are isolated, have few friends, are enmeshed, have poor communication skills, use alcohol and drugs at various times, and where one or both of the parents are depressed.

Incest is the act of sex with a family member who is a blood relative or a parent/child coupling whether by blood or adoption. Sibling relations are included without regard to adoption or blood relationship.
Those who partake in such relations are sometimes sick. Others are desperate. In nearly all cases, it is not tolerated.

Incest is a Class One Felony, in most states, not to mention, a poor social choice in any situation I can think of.

Incest is rapeing someone from you're own family. It is not a mental illness but anyone who does that must be mentally ill because it is so wrong and illegal.

I wouldn't instantly comdemn it as a mental disorder, but there's a family I know that engages in it and they all seem pretty 'out there', if you know what I mean. To some people, it's a fetish and nothing more, although incest does cause mental disorders in the children it produces. It isn't always present in the people that do it, though.

There are dif levels of awareness, some are demonised, so they are in total control when something else takes over their body. Others 'know' it's wrong, but, is so conditioned, from trauma from their own incest, they don't know any other way to behave. Still others 'know' it's wrong and has sought help.

Incest is when someone is raped by a relative. Some people are "not incest and others are." Some people are victims of incest and some are not.
