if someone takes a Fake ID i.e. bouncer or someone at a place where alcohol is served, that doesnt have your real name on it and hand it to the police, how would they trace is back to me? the reason im asking is im considering getting a fake ID but with a different name and trying to figure out how i could ever get in trouble unless a cop stopped me and took it and got my real information then and there
AND by the law, do bouncers have the right to confiscate IDs and to make you wait with them for the cops?

It's not worth it. Quit considering it. You might get away with it, but I doubt it. Have you heard of finger-printing? Have you heard of eye witness testimony? Police are not stupid...usually. Those that are stupid don't keep their jobs for long. Put another way, police are not stupid. Bouncers are not stupid either.
Yes they can take it. Yes they can detain you. Yes it can be traced.

don't worry about it bro...everyone uses fake IDs- how much trouble can you really get in. just be sure that you only keep it on you when you go to a club/bar- don't keep it in your wallet just in case a cop pulls you over for a speeding ticket or something. If he sees it, or something that looks like another ID he'll search your wallet- then you'll probably get a ticket. I seriously doubt you'll get arrested. Bouncers do have the right to confiscate it, but they have to be really gung ho about their job to make you wait for the cops (which they do have a right to do)- If they try to make you wait for the cops, fight like hell to get away (without throwing any punches), scream about false imprisonment, and tell them your father is a lawyer.- They'll probably be too scared about leaving a scratch on you and let you go. A judge would be pretty pissed off at any bouncer that hurt a kid for using a fake ID. Don't let the other answers scare you- life is too short, enjoy it like everyone else did and flex the power of the fake ID...it's AWESOME!

First possession of a fraudulent ID is a criminal offense. Bouncers do have the right to confiscate the ID if it is determined to be fraudulent. There are many ways to trace a fraudulent ID back to the card holder. And citizens do have the right to detain a person for criminal offenses.

The ultimate court docket already ruled that voter identity regulations ARE constitutional as long as there is not any fee for the identity.. That has been the regulation in my state because 2008. I basically use my drivers license.
