Best way to "defrost" crab legs is run them under cold water. That will help them thaw faster. Helpful hint..... If you want to warm up your crab legs preheat your oven to 400 degrees put tinfoil on a cookie sheet(this will make for an easy clean up) lay the crab legs out single level and bake them for about 4-6 minutes. If they are not warm enough then continue heating checking every couple of minutes until they are warm enough for you.

If you do not defrost, increase the time that you steam them, otherwise they may wind up being frozen in the center.

Nope - you do not have to defrost them. The steaming will accomplish that.
