If the world discovered that God didn't exist ......
You still would not win the Lottery.
Just how open-minded are You?
Can you stand a little alternate viewpoint?
For some strange reason: Atheists insist it would prove that God does not exist, If the following "Devil's wish list" could be achieved.
The Devil's Wish List:
1. Someone can demonstrate that some part of the Bible is inaccurate.
2. Someone can discover a strange looking skeleton that will carbon date a "zillion" years ago.
3. Someone can detect a highly distant star system that seems erratic or whatever.
For some strange reason: The fanatical evolutionists feel their ignoring of Bible data would be justified, if the above "Devil's Wish List" is achieved.
For some strange reason: Astronomers feel it would be important, if the above "Devil's Wish List" could be achieved.
For some strange reason: The skeptical Archeologists feel they would be justified for their extreme skepticism of the Bible, if the above "Devil's Wish List" could be achieved.
For some strange reason: The news media thinks it would shake the World's stability and confidence in God, if they report the achievement of the above "Devil's Wish List".
In reality: If the above "Devil's Wish List" was achieved tomorrow morning;
1. It would not change anyone's opinion of God.
2. It would not disprove God's existence.
3. It would not excuse the scientists for their ignoring of Bible data.
4. It would not shake the World's stability or confidence in God.
Why?
1. People especially religious people are "set in their ways"
2. (surprise) The Holy Spirit witnesses on a personal basis. And, just what does it witness to? That if you try to live a harmonious life, God, through Jesus' message, will grant you an entrance to Heaven after your stay here on Earth.
OK, Ok. I admit, certain borderline folks who have never been visited by the Holy Spirit, would be shaken up by a scientific proof that the "God" described by the Bubba Preachers does not exist.

Most people wouldn't believe it and would continue their attempts to disprove it, much as the intelligent design crowd does with evolution. Facts are constantly under scrutiny; such a "discovery" would be hotly disputed and I don't see how such a thing could be utterly proven. So, in the minds of believers there would be doubt of this discovery, and they would simply believe the end times were closer than they thought at first.
Some people would commit suicide and some families and institutions might fail, but I do not think that a wholesale acceptance of even the most scientifically proven disproving of the existence of God would be forthcoming.

How many institutions? NONE. Most people in the US are atheists now and social order has not collapsed except for when Christians interfere.
You cannot discover that God does not exist. Nor the Flying Pink Unicorn.

Human mind although it claims to have believed God to the fullest, always have a small uncertainty bout God's existance. So, it will not make much difference, only media companies will be making tonnes of money in blowing the issue up...and of course, there will be riots here and there in the name of proving God's existence, now that they become the minority...

Nothing.
Those who believed in his existence will go on their lives as normal; Doing good thigs and being thankful for everyday they have spent their lives. At least they have followed a good rule and that is to do GOOD..THose who did not believe in Him will continue to do bad things because they do not believe in HIs teachings about good deeds.
BUT
what if God is real? Then that would change the answers, if God is real, then those wh have done good things towards the others will be rewarded and those who did not believe in Him will be doomed.

You've done an excellent job of projecting reactions a lot of crazy folks with way too much religion on their hands would have over such nonsense. I've already found out and I'm not dead yet.

The problem isn't with discovering that God doesn't exist. Anybody with any sense already knows he doesn't. The problem is helping people overcoming denial of the obvious.

The conscious children of God never try to prove anything against their heavenly Father.
The pot cannot do anything against the potter.
Darkness cannot do anything against light.
The world cannot do anything against its Creator.

You are not exaggerating, religious fanatics will kill themselves and their family, the whole shabang. Smart (relatively ;) ) religious people will accept it and move on.
