I'm attracted to somebody I supervise. And I think she feels the same way. I want to talk with her about it, but the last thing I want to do is make her feel pressured from a manager, and along with that, I don't want to get tangled up in a Human Resources issue.

It's also a pragmatic issue: I am willing to relocate to another office, if it were to come to it. But there's enough inconvenience to it that I'd prefer not to take that step unless I know there's something there between us.

Should I talk with her first, to see how she feels? How should I bring it up?

Use an intermediary that SHE is friends with and trusts.
You are in the position of power and she can feel threatened.
I would suggest a simple and honest approach.
E.g. a letter, which the intermediary must read first, saying that you like this person and that YOU are willing to move to another dept etc. if necessary and bearing that in mind will this person consider going out with you.

your job does not allow you to date below others.

to date another will jeopardize your job and future.

only wimps allow women to change or alter their careers (move to get some action...thats sad dude, real sad)....but it sounds like you are one anyways for wanting to date someone below you to begin with.

that was basic 101 in your orientation but I guess you slept through it.
