Learn to give without expecting anything, that is true giving. To give and then expect something in return is not good. Just let it be. Feel good to just give. Find the joy in that.

Well there are two trains of thought with this question. The first you absolutely must call to inquire if they received the gift. If you did not deliver the gift personally it is fine to ask mostly to ensure it's delivery and receipt. Or you can just forget it but remember if they were expecting a gift from you and it did not arrive then they will be the ones wondering if you forgot them. Save the awkwardness, ask them. Or second. You hopefully did not give the gift for the thank you so just forget it. Me personally, I would ask. merry Christmas.

I would call just to make sure the gift was actually delivered or not. I had ordered something of the internet and it was supposed to have been delivered on December 22. So far no gift. So you just never know.

One should always give without the concern for anything in return. If you're concerned for their health and wellbeing, then call them without mentioning the gift and instead inquire as to their health, but otherwise it's poor ethics to worry about whether someone's going to thank you or not.

Consider that they may be very busy with their holiday preparations and be patient. If a week goes by and you hear nothing, you could call and say "Hey, I was wondering how you liked the I sent you?" I would wait a few days.

Call and get a clue as to what is going on. I wouldn't ask directly or seem upset. You could probably get the idea in the casual conversation. Merry Christmas.

Isn't giving something to someone supposed to be an act of charity? You shouldn't expect anything in return. Most people with common courtesy know to thank you. Others just probably forget.

If you were sincere with your gift you shouldn't be looking for a thank you. Are you giving only so the person will be obligated to you? xx

Why do you care?
Do you give gifts to get a thank you?
