hi, have decided to have duck for xmas dinner, but how do i cook it and how long for? it's about 5 lbs and i havent a clue other than to put bacon over the top while it cooks. i have no idea at what temperature or for how long and really could do with some help, thank you in advance for your help

You can cook it just as you would a chicken or turkey. Duck is sometimes very greasy. When my sis-in-law used to cook it, she would put it into a roast pan and put slices of seasoned bread around it to soak up the grease and throw the bread away when duck was done.

You do not need to add more fat. A duck is filled with fat and ever so yummy.

I have seasoned them like a chicken and started cooking breast side down. Make sure to poke a few holes in the duck to release the fat.
You need to watch it very closely due to the fat.

You can check Google and find a zillion recipes.
One duck usually serves four people.
