No, they won't. I'm guessing you stole something small and under a hundred bucks. In theory, you were unlawfully detained and can sue them in civil court. Practically, however, if you do choose that option, the judge will rip you a new one and throw the case out because you got off really easy by the people who caught you committing a crime and for clogging up the legal system without cause, in the practical sense. (And we all know that some laws just doesn't make sense...those are the ones that clogs up the system.) You can breathe easier now.

It is not feasible to pursue a criminal charge of retail theft if they banned you and let you go. When detained, law enforcement is notified and a arrest affidavit is completed. A court date is given and you are released. If that did not occur, than I would pretty much say you are in the clear. But remember there is a chance of a criminal charge being filed at a later date if Walmart decides to change there mind. It would just be harder to convict. As for the banned it is considered a trespass and they could arrest you if you return.

I doubt they're going to tell the college, and it may haven't any result on her destiny different than with a bit of luck coaching her a lesson. luckily, the police weren't called because of the fact despite the fact that it became basically an eraser, she could are starting to be to be in severe criminal difficulty. What you're able to do is be "enormous sisterly" and clarify to her that what she did became severe, and not cool. clarify that such issues could have an result on destiny faculties, scholarships, jobs, etc. They in all threat took all of that information to flow into right into a database. If she gets caught stealing returned, they could greater suitable than probably press costs. evaluate this a warning.

Wal-Mart makes it pretty standard practice and policy to call the police when shoplifting occurs but if they didnt do it on-site, they obviously do not plan on purusing charges against you. Consider it your Christmas gift and learn from your silly mistake!! Whatever it is you stole will be better enjoyed if you earn the money used to purchase it anyway! You know better!

Wow!! Lucky you. Did it happen right before Christmas? Maybe that's why. I don't think they are going to press charges if they let you go. Lucky you. If they did you'd end up doing more than 5 years in prison.

Be happy they let you go. I normally press charges most of the times nothing major, but a headache for the shoplifters.

If they let you go, it is doubtful that they will pursue the matter further. Just be thankful that's all that happened. Wal Mart will normally prosecute.

Of course, as part of most retailers "Theft Prevention Program", companies now hire lawyers and/or collectors, and they will pursue the perpetrator to pay a civil cost of $75.00.

Anyway, ppl like you who steal from stores make the cost higher for other customers, you should be ashame of yourself and keep your hands in your pockets the next time your'e in a store. Don't do it again, we all make mistakes, just need to correct that.

You got lucky If they did not call the police I highly doubt they will try to charge you now due to the fact that they no longer have any proof to give the cops

If they did that you got lucky as hell. Just be thankful and NEVER do that again. It's actually quite serious and can really mess up your future. If they did that for you, No, they will not press charges in the future.
