My aunt doesn't let her kids play with Pokemon, read Harry Potter, play cards, learn about different religions, watch television with any hint of lewdness or foul language, etc, etc...because they are all supposedly linked to the Devil. She's also depressed and very bored, just sleeps in her bed all day.

You should ask her.

How are we supposed to know? We don't even know her name.

I don't know. I am a non-denominational Christian, and of course, I limit what my children watch, but I think that you can/should only shelter a child to a certain extent. If you shelter them too much, then when they do get a taste of freedom, they may go crazy with it. I don't think this is any certain denomination, I think your aunt may be going just a little overboard. You might mention to her that alot of denominations teach that depression is of the devil.

She sounds like she may be a depressed Baptist from the old school!

Fundamentalist - theoretically, she could be in any denomination, but more likely Baptist - Baptists have the highest rates of Christian Fundamentalism than any other denomination.

There are a lot of denominations that are that strict-minded. I have a friend who belongs to a Missouri Synod Lutheran church, and it sounds a lot like their beliefs. Again, though, that's just one of many.
