The average pedophile will VICTIMIZE 244 CHILDREN in their lifetime, according to the Massachusetts Children's Trust Fund, a child advocacy group working to prevent child abuse and neglect.

The average amount of time behind bars is 6 MONTHS!!

Bet if they robbed a bank 244 times they'd do more time.

Not that I am advocating child molestation, but those numbers seem absurdly high for the rate of molestation and absurdly low for the amount of jail time. As tough as state laws are now about this kind of thing I find that hard to believe. They are just giving you an average and not the whole picture. Say a 19 year old guy gets a 17 year old girl pregnant and the state convicts him for statutory rape. He is now considered a child molester. Since there wasn't much age difference, say they only give him say 6 months plus 5 years probation. Say this happens alot. Now say that their is a pedophile that molest 30 children and he gets 15 years. Now say there were alot less of the second kind of man charged. I think this would effectively change the average making it seem that alot of children get molested but few get jail time. Do you understand what I mean? I am not the greatest with math so I could be off bit it seems they are making the numbers work for them by making it look worse than it is. Mabe this helps them get more money from the government for funding or whatever. Just seems way off. Any amount of child molestation is bad though.

I am not a pedophile sympathizer, but it do know that some of those statistics are from statutory rape charges...which I don't approve of.

When I was in high school, I sat beside this girl in choir who was a senior and dating a 13 year old. I looked at her like: "How desperate can ya get?" Not even thinking of it as pedophilia. After years of psychology in college, I see it from a different perspective.

I do know that pedophilia has not become more prevalent, just more recognized. Imagine how long we have been walking around with blinders on?

What does the Massachusetts Children's Trust Fund consider child abuse and neglect because that seems a little high to me.
EXP. Do they consider spanking a child abuse?

Something to be aware of is that while they may only be in for 6 months, a good portion of child molesters are killed by people doing consecutive life sentences. This aids in balancing the system out (more or less).

Equally as disturbing is the sloppy way most states "monitor" sex offenders - definitely leaving a lot of room for revictimization, mostly of children. Members of the general population need to demand more accountability but until then it is up to parents to remain proactive in the protection of their children and those around them in their neighborhoods, churches, children's classes, etc.

What I can't understand is why these courts are defending the rights of these perverts right and left. Are the judges on the take ?
