I'm living by myself in February and need a cookbook of basic, quick meals so I don't eat frozen dinners every night! One with PICTURES would be best! I have Rachael Ray's 30 min meals book, but it doesn't have pictures so I don't know what the names of most of the foods mean so it's too confusing for me! haha.

I love just going to the food network website. There are usually pictures and the recipes are rated for their difficulty and time. They are usually broken down with a prep time and a cook time and I know that I will always need more prep time because I am not a very fast or accurate slicer or dicer. Either way it gives me an idea of what I am coooking looks like, how long it will take and sometimes there is a little helpful hint that I can use for other things.

The Joy of Cooking is the bible to any would-be chef. My grandma still uses hers from the 1920's.
I have a newer 2005 copy and still there are no pictures. But it does have a few hundred recipes for all skill levels.
