Wow my black lab has the same problem! She is allergic to certain ingredients in food one we believe is wheat. So we put her on the royal canin hypoallergenic dog food. It has done wonders for her. She had gotten so bad it was to the point that her fur was falling out in certain spots and she was itching her skin raw. We took her to see a specialist and they also prescribed a hydrocortisone bath once a week. This really helps her out and she is doing a lot better. I would recommend the royal canin hypoallergenic dog food and also a soothing bath wash for her too. Sometimes the oatmeal shamphoo and condt help her. Also if you switch her diet no treats! I know this is hard but if you feed striclty the royal canin dog food for a few weeks with no treats then you can see if its working for her. Feeding any treats will just counteract you're trying to help her. Also maybe take her to see a specialist see what they say. Best of luck!

Unfortunately, there could be a wide variety of things causing this. Anything from 'simple' dermatitis to a parasitic infection. The only way to know for certain is to go to a vet and allow them to get both a skin scraping and a blood sample - maybe even a fecal sample.

They make anti-itch wipes that you just rub all over your dog, it's like a wet wipe. They work really well, and I have used them on my dog for a while now. I have noticed a huge difference in her scratching herself!! I bought them at Petsmart.

Sounds like allergic reaction - if outside pet may be allergic to grass type or products used in that area .....
if inside - may be allergic to carpet or floor cleaners.

Make basic changes and if gets better, there is your answer.

If not better within a few days, consult your vet!

It sounds like she may have allergies. If you take her to the vet, they can run the necessary tests, and give you something that would help keep her allergies under control.
