That little M on his forehead, along with the stripe I'll bet he has running down and back from the outside corner of each eye, are the definitive marks of the tabby.

Your kitty must look just like my Scamper. He's that same light orange, golden brown, tawney color with white, and the only tabby marks he has are those two most basic ones, the M and the stripes by the outside corners of his eyes.

Naming him was hard! All the names I could think of that seemed reflective of his coloring sounded like girl's names! (Buffy, Tawney, Saffron) The usual orange cat names like Rusty or Tiger or Punkin didn't seem right because he's not orange enough for them. It took me weeks to come up with the right name, and I named him Scamper because it fits his personality, not his looks. Of course I had to get to know him for a few weeks before I could pick a name that reflected his personality.

Well, thats my suggestion: wait a few weeks until you get to know him better, and see what pops into your head then. While you're waiting, see what you find yourself calling him when you snuggle with him and play with him. Something good might just jump off your lips without you thinking about it.

In the meantime I'm sure he won't mind if you just call him Kitty for a while. (Scamper's nickname is still "Da Kitty" and it probably always will be.)

Without knowing her personality it is hard to say. I just got a kitten, she is a tortoise shell calico and she has spunk. My kids had just gotten done watching a really cute family movie "Duma" about a cheetah cub whose mom was killed by poachers, so this little boy and his dad took it home and raised it. Duma means cheetah in African, and it seemed to fit, as my kitten thinks she is a cheetah, so Duma is her name. It is original and has true meaning, and I guarantee you won't hear it anytime soon. I am not saying to name him Duma, but I wished everyone would name their animals based on personality and cute little things like how we picked her name. GL and Merry Christmas

I know it is a popular name, but why not garfield, although if it is a sandy brown color, I named my cat that looks like that sammy
