Being a cop is a dangerous job because you will never know what type of individuals or situations they have to deal with (arresting people, criminals, horrible crime scenes etc.). From my understanding being a cop can be stressful which can lead to family problems. Not all cops are this way but some are.

Most cops are control freaks. that is why they go into the profession. Not all, but most. Most have issues. 75% of marriages end in divorce. Think about it for a while. The personality draw it takes to get into such a profession usually involves domination issues. It's true and many studies have been done on the subject. This does not mean all cops are bad people, it does not mean they will not make a good spouse. It just means you should be prepared for the high likelyhood your husband will have control issues and be very dominant over you.

This is a tough one, been there. You will find that his schedule is tight, he has a priority to his career, and you may feel like you come in second at the best of times. His job is incredibly stressful so you have to have a thick skin. The relationship will be harder on you than him, he will not have as much time to commit to you as someone with an easier career. We parted as friends and are to this day. But remember, he took an oath and that will hold a priority, always. Keep the faith

Over the years they become hardened. Of the 2000 cops I have known only 1 has had a good relationship. Do yourself a favor and run like hell.

First of all, they do NOT all cheat because my father is a cop and is the most loyal and trustworthy man i've ever known. but there are cons, they are very very protective, somewhat controlling and often extremely stubborn. cops think they know everything!

You may worry for their safety; they can have unusual shifts that mean you don't see them a great deal of the time; like some other professions, they're "always on" in a way and have to live up to a certain standard; they don't make as much money as some other jobs; their job is exceedingly high-stress.

Well I know from personal experience..my friends have always told me that they do eventually cheat because of the uniform thing..I didn't want to believe that but it still remains in the back of my head because I see how girls react to them. They are very proud sometimes too proud and when you get into a fight he might start using his police terms that he learned in the academy to intimidate you. He also may get on his highhorse of power and authority which gets annoying, just because he enforces the law doesn't mean he is above it.

Interesting, you only want cons.
They are around hookers to much .
They like to be in charge of you .
Their big gun compensates for other things :)
They risk there life on a daily bases .
But they can not hit you or they will lose their job .(a plus)
I have known a few very good cops and sheriffs that are faithful to their wives .

he is not gonna arrest you!..unless its something hecticly illegal..you are in an emotional relationship so things get deeper you know..i think the cons of dating would be the same..if he likes/loves you his attitude towards you is gonna be like any other guy not like a cop..

I just reviewed the answers to see if my biases were valid. I guess they are. I dated a cop. Run away as fast as you can.
