I need some ideas for crafts for children between the ages of 4-8, but they can't involve any food products, or glitter. If you have any ideas on what I can do, PLEASE HELP!!!

My 7 year old is obsessed with making "books" and so is his little brother, 3. Get 3 to 6 pieces of paper and fold them in half. Use a hole punch and yarn to "bind" the books. Let them have at it with pencils, crayons, and colored pencils! They'll have a blast. They can write a book, complete with illistrations, about what they got for Christmas, or their wishes for the New Year. Have fun!

first of all you will probably need to seperate the children into two groups on of ages 4-5 and then 6-8 and may need to even seperate them into a 3rd group. children at these ages have very different levels of skills and attention spans.

the book idea is great for the older group. but really too much for a 4 or 5 year old and almost needs to be a one on one or two on one project, as they rarely can even hold a pen or pencil to make any words and will want to tell you their story as they write it.

try coloring and drawing with the younger group,

another altime favorite of kids of all ages is playdough...very easy to make and use.

beading, lacing, and maybe even a simple macrame project might be fun,

painting is also fun (but messy)

collages are great fun you can pre cut some things and then allow the children to cut more. they can use up old ads and magazines, and can use glue sticks to paste together their projects on either cardboard, paper, or other formats.

good luck

There are a lot of craft stores that carry foam stickers in different shapes, my kids love them, 3 and 6. Also, if paint is okay, try water colors. Just throw on an old shirt and cover your table with news paper, I also put a plastic table cloth on the floor, which helps with clean up. A lot of stores carry beads that the kids can string. Good luck.

you could buy a necklace-making set from one of those oriental trading catalogues. they're great but keep them occupied with it as they get boring after a while.
