I am a firm believer in the fact that you cant be totaly indifferent to anything and still exist. So my question is what does trying to not teach about issues like love and trust teach kids about it? That its bad to talk about? Or that its a grown up thing not ment for them? Or something else? Or maybe they understand the issue better then the teachers/parents could so maybe we should be taking an example from them not the other way around? What is your thought on this issue?

Trust and love beings from birth, it is continually taught amongst family, friends, schools and work. You can not be a happy soul if you don't listen when this is taught, you will find for a short while there will be people teaching philosophy against any Gods law, this is your right to voice the correct information to finally rid of such suggestions until it is spoken no more.

I'm not sure where your child goes to school, but maybe you should look into going someplace else. There are many schools that go out of their way to teach children about respect, caring, and trust. As a teacher, I know that chilgren can't learn if they don't feel safe. This year I've begun starting the day with Morning Meeting, a routine in which we all greet one another, talk about the news of the day, and give students a chance to share what's happening in their lives. It sounds corny, but I teach sixth grade and I haven't had nearly the bullying or peer problems I've noticed in the past. We had such a moment when a girl shared that her grandmother had died...compassion and empathy all around, beyond what you'd expect of an 11 year old. So-teaching about love and trust can be done! Check out responsiveclassrooms.org for more on these ideas.

School teaches the three r's and propaganda. (Remeber your American history class?) I think more time should be spent on teaching children survival skills. Morals are taught by example more than anything else. the best way to teach about love and trust is to live inside those two concepts.

children understand trust and love ... they just lose that over time. It's really up to the parents to deal with that. if you're talking sex and safety ... well maybe the schools should teach that for the safety of the children, but ...

Most adults don't understand love. Could you tell your best friend (of the opposite sex) that you love them with all your heart? that you love them unconditionally? or would you be concerned that they might feel that you're flirting ... or that their significant other might be upset by it? Love is not a romantic notion, and children know that. They just unlearn it.
