Not all make much, just the ones with TV shows. My bro-in-law is a Methodist minister, and he doesn't make much.

First of all USA is a Christian country and the one who rule it also fears the lord.so the country is blessed. If it is blessed just because it is a country of Christian's then how much will the lord bless the people(preachers)who had dedicated their life to serve for the lord?
working for the lord is a most blessed job one could get and so they earn more.More than that the preachers ask god ,ie.,pray to god for others need and so the lord gives them above their needs. When u pray for other's needs, your needs are met in abundant.

Because they prey on the weak-minded and gullible and there are just so many more such people for them to prey (pray?) on (over?).
And even if they don't earn a lot of money, it must be better than working for a living and of course catholic priests don't earn much. They pass the wealth they con out of their simple celebrants to the Pope or to decorate their temples. Visit the Vatican museum for an explanation of why Catholic countries are often the poorest. The peasants paid for all that!

As the people are away from spirituality, but it is one of the basic needs of human being. So there is a thrust to grab spiritual satisfaction in USA, where environment is unfavourable to true religion.
Preachers exploit this situation of hunger/famine of religious food.
That's why the false/hypocrite preachers earn money in USA.
As we are away from reality, as we need more religious food.
We can become close to reality by getting knowledge about our own original self.

Don't let anyone fool you. They are all scam artists living off the hard earned money of the poor souls they scam. Billy Graham, Oral Roberts..........among others do as they please. They don't have to pay taxes and you can bet they don't claim cash donations. Oral Roberts was told by the city of Tulsa,Oklahoma not to build a hospital on his ground, because he wanted it for only "his" followers. He defied the city, never got a building permit and built it anyway. How's that for gaul??? Tammy Faye and Jim Baker cheated their followers out of millions and he ended up in jail (only because he made a mistake and got caught). However, nothing happened to Tammy and she was his side kick the whole time. My advice would be to NEVER give money to anyone not willing to work for it.

of course it is always best to do some research before you ask a question to the general public.
my father was a preacher for the majority of my childhood, and while i disagree with many of his philosophies, i can tell you that he never made very much money.
nor did his preacher friends.
preachers preach because they want to help others.
not because they want to get rich.
he also believes (still) firmly in the new testament doctrine of the "tithe" which is to say that he gives at least ten percent of his net profits every year toward charity.
how much do you give to charity?
i give little if any of my hard earned dollars away.
in this i geatly respect my father.

p.s.
did someone "christian" hurt you in some way recently???
if not then why the bitterness???

I am LDS and our Bishops don't recieve any portion from the thithe they all work and have jobs, our tithe goes towards the needy, and those who need help. Our church was at the Katrina sight before they even had anywhere to unload the trucks. That is where ten percent of my income goes, I will not pay someone to teach me the word of God, that is not how God intended things to be.

a few preachers who are the head of large groups and are in fact closer to company presidents make alot compared to commom people, but not as much as a simular position would pay in the corporate world.

And most US ministers don't make enough to live on and have to work a second job just to pay the bills.

Only a few have the charisma to make it rich, and the ones that do prey upon the gullibility and heavily conservative attitudes of the American South and Midwest--hotbeds of evangelical literalism.

Those that really make good money, are involved in ministries that require management skills.
Many pastors of mega-churches are visionaries, and managers as well as pastors. Those are the skills that earn them so much money.
Some pastors make less than they would make as a bookkeeper in a corporation, and aren't even compensated for the time and money spent in seminary.

well they are not suppose to get rich off of us,however some do,and one day they will have to answer to God.....Normally the way it works in most churches, people pay their tithes of 10%,and they also pay special offerings...The special offerings are suppose to go to whoever they are collecting it for, such as foriegn Missions......as far as the tithes ,that is suppose to go into the church fund, which they have a bank account in the church name, all the tithes suppose to go into that bank account to pay for lights, gas, phones ,church building and so forth...anything the church needs to pay bills, repairs etc....The Pastor is suppose to just draw a salary.they do not get all that money....The salary is set according by the members of the financial group, these are usually the older members that has proved that they are God fearing and honest people, they don,t just come in off the street...ever so often the church will have a business meeting and the church is invited to come and find out whats going on and ask questions....As far as these free lance preachers ,evanalist ,i suppose they have some type of system they go by too,i don,t know how that works...But I do what the Bible says and I don,t worry about them gettinf rich, cause if they do wrong they have to answer to God for it....I have enough to worry about just worrying about me..............This isall i know
