We are bringing her to the vet in the morning, but we would like an idea of what her symptoms could mean. It happened very suddenly late yesterday. She looks as if her hips or back legs are very stiff and painful. She is unable to stand up on her own and can only limp a short distance outside to go to the bathroom. There were no signs of discomfort or anything before yesterday. There is no history of hip displasia in her bloodline, although she is 8 years old and in the past had 2 litters of pups. She spent all day yesterday in the fenced in back yard with our 6 month old yellow lab and we maybe think they played too rough and she's just a little sore. Any ideas or suggestions on what could be going on or how to make her a little more comfortable until the morning would be appreciated. Thanks

I know hip displasia doesn't occur overnight. I'm not an idiot. I put that in the explaination so no one would suggest that it is the source of her pain.

She is eating and drinking. She hasn't pooped in the last day or so, but she has peed. There's no blood in the urine either, we looked for that. Next time we try and take her out I'll check for the sour smell. Thanks for all your answers and help!

chances are that birthing 2 litters has weakened her hips or connecting bones and joints, and the rough playing dislocated them or stressed the area.

make food and water easily accessable...although if shes in serious pain, she probably wont want to eat.

make sure she is in an area she enjoys...and comfoting things are around her..like toys or favorite blanket.

Asprin is a safe drug for your dog, but consult your Vet before giving her anything.

Maybe look into an emergency vet. if she cant walk, the situation is serious

Good Luck and I hope She is Okay.

Junior gets that way after playing with his younger friend. He is almost 10. I have been giving him one Aleive tablet. It makes him sleepy and the next day he is fine. He has never had any side affects. You can also think about using Glucosimine for dogs. I think I spelled it right. Alieve has worked very well for my Lab , some people may disagree but that's your call.

Sounds like it could be arthritis. Try putting warm compresses on her hips and legs and keep her warm that should help her until she sees the vet.

dude, you dog just hurt itself. Hip Displasia does not occur over night. He probably fell or slipped.

have vet check for Lymes disease. Sometimes the pet will get sore overnight.
