They sell them coz people want to buy them! No matter how much info is given out, some people still dont think they have done a proper cleaning job until they have scrubbed the life out of their teeth!;

It has nothing to do with cost. Soft, medium and firm brushes of the same model cost the same. It is a matter of preference. Some people still prefer firm bristles because they believe that soft bristles do not clean as well. It is true that dentists most often recommend soft bristled brushes. This is to decrease the risk of gum bleeds and irritation. Other reasons can include cleaning dentures, where a firm bristled brush may be preferred.

Hard and Medium tooth brushes are for dentures and partials period. You should always be using a soft toothbrush on your natural teeth. If a dentist is giving away hard or medium toothbrushes I would def. ask why. You can say that you have researched it and found that soft toothbrushes are the best bet, so why does your office give out hard ones? The worst place to get the hardest toothbrush known to man? The hospital, those jokers will cut your gums, no lie. Save the hospital toothbrushes for cleaning jewelry.

its because, they know even though they tell you soft bristles with small heads, that you are still going to buy the large headded tooth brush with the hard bristles. we buy the ones with hard bristles, because with the hard bristles we really feel like we are scrubbing our teeth clean. with soft bristles, it feels like you are brushing with a cotton swab. it dosent feel like you are gettting your teeth clean. they tell you soft bristles, because hard bristles casue microscopic cuts in your gums than can cause infection, or halitosis (bad breath). believe it or not, its true. brushing with hard bristles and scrubbing your teeth, can cause your gums to receed, and expose the root of your teeth.. but, you can still have a hard bristled tooth brush and have healthy gums, if your tooth brusing technique is good. but, the dentist is too lazy to show you the proper way to brush your teeth, and he wants you to have to come back again and again, so he sells what you will buy.
