If you eat late at night and forget to drink water it happens. You could try to eat earlier and drink water before you go to bed

Be careful not to eat too much sugar (or ANY sugar) after dinner time. The sugar in your system dries out your mouth. It is easy enough to just try this for 2 or 3 days and you will see that I am right.
(Assuming you are not taking any one of a couple hundred medications that cause dry mouth...)

Sleeping with your mouth open or snoring most likely causes the dryness. It usually happens more in the winter because of heat being on and because there's low humidity.

If you're sleeping with your mouth opened try putting one piece of 'Johnson & Johnson non-irritating First Aid Tape' across your upper & lower lip before you go to sleep.

Your mouth goes dry when you are sleeping because you sleep with your mouth open.

Mouth breathers can get dry mouth very easily when sleeping, and also your salivary glands are not being stimulated.

SLEEPING WITH THE MOUTH OPEN AND MOST IMPORTANTLY BREATHING THROUGH THAT OPEN ORIFICE IS THE REASON FOR DRY MOUTH IN THE MORNING "COTTON MOUTH". NOTHING HARMFUL ABOUT IT, JUST RINSE YOUR MOUTH OUT WITH WATER IN THE MORNING. IT GOES RIGHT AWAY UNTIL THE NEXT NIGHT.
